Kindle Sale, Book Anniversary, Barbara’s Review And A Reading Of “Cleansing” From “One Petal At A Time”

“Cleansing” by Joni Caggiano from “One Petal at a Time,”

Cleansing

silence is the tiptoe
of a fairy as she slyly
births comfort
youthful dreamer
writing love notes to pixies
in beams the moon can spare
solace wrapped
in prayer under covers
phantom of shame circles
disgrace like fireflies
without flames
ladybugs missing spots
and archaic tainted statues
with long-ago muted tongues
while willows lament
so, plug your ears
if puffed up, with moss
from primal oaks if truth offends
boulders of disgrace grow roots
in cotton pockets as relics
intuition dots vistas
piercing words of neighbors
school faces bestowing nicknames
drilling holes in fragility
vultures with verdicts dripping
from shallow humans
point at me in devil’s regalia
no more uncle’s probing privates
entwining among protective
bark of hollow trees
hope nurtures a spirit of wind kisses
falling gently on unsure budding face
nights bring gifts of petrichor
sleep grooms my body
God’s cleansing rain

Dearest Tim, Thank you for your kind comment. It is unusual not to get more comments, but this poem is full of metaphors and hard ones, too. It’s not an easy piece to read. I think that Barbara wrote one of the kindest reviews I have ever seen. I hope you and your family are all doing well. It is starting to get hot here again already, and now it is supposed to freeze again. Sending you gratitude and blessings, Joni

I wanted to get paper to wrap it so we did and I tomorrow we are going into town to mail it. It sounds so funny talking like I live way out in the Boondocks but we are in the middle of farmland. I am grateful for that. It shouldn’t take long to get your autographed copy – sending big hugs and love, Joni

Thank you so much for your very kind comments. I really appreciate it. Yes, the year flew by. Barbara wrote a spectacular review. All of the people who wrote reviews did such a kindness to me. I usually don’t do reviews on poetry books instead I try to do readings, etc. Have a wonderful week. <3 <3<3
