Saturday
cropping memories
like daisy haircuts
buttery scent sashay
pigment blending
merging, like yolks
vision murmurs from easel
his canvas calls
endless love line
strokes from brush
his connection to life
timid she saunters
behind golden hat
until delicate his
murmurations of love
mingled with ardent touch
cause her to capture
rays of sunlight
warm with passion
moments forever
lured into love
with an artist
and his frame
Hoping that in this tumultuous world where we find ourselves today that each of you can find some stardust, a fairy circle, joy from a little one’s smile or experience happiness by feeling blessed with friendship from people around our world.
A lovely foray into rich imagery that indulges the senses. Your unique manner of visual expression is such a joy to read, Joni. I love your word choices, how they startle and stimulate the senses. This piece has a relaxing flow to it that takes me into an imaginary studio where everything is almost hyper-vivid and intoxicating. Just amazing poetry, my friend. So glad to see another post from you. 😊
Mike I wish I could reach across the computer and just give you the biggest hug. You always bless me with your kind words. I use to spend a lot of time walking through pictures as a way of instant escape. I have always said that in not that far away future, we will experience the ability to do just that. I have had a lot of downtime lately and allowing myself to do it without filling any guilt. It feels good to me. Thank you so much, Mike for your kindness. Love you from both of us ❤️
Such a beautiful fantasy, Joni bathed in yellow light..pure yet urgent, maybe just an undeniable moment to treasure forever. How easy it is to fall in love with those who posses gifts, we truly can see and deeply admire. I loved this mu sweet friend.🙏🌻💕
You are a sweetheart. You are so right just moments of thought. That is sort of the way my mind works especially in the morning hours. Thank you so much for reading. I can’t wait to watch your show presentation on Gino’s Butterfly. Also can’t wait to take a look on the big screen. I can’t wait to catch up with all you are up to. Replied to your message, sending lots of love sweetie. 🙏❤️🙏
“some stardust, a fairy circle” I love that, via your vernacular you lift us Joni. <3
You are very kind to me. If I lift anyone it means the world to me. We are all part of one another. I believe everything is connected and we meet each other for a reason often a special blessing. ❤️ how you give your time to make sure other poets are read. It is a blessing what you do. ❤️
🥰
The language..the expression, the way you painted this entire scene. It is so well written. I love how you crafted this poem, Joni. Wonderful to see you posting consistently again, Joni dearest. I pray you had a most restful weekend.
Thank you so much Nigel for reading and your gracious comment. We had a weekend where we spent almost all of our time together. It was nice. I appreciate you asking. I have two publications coming up this month and worked the hardest I have in a long time working on my pieces for Mich’s anthology. I am very excited about it and thought it was an amazing way for her to show her gratitude to her writers and readers. I get blocked often as well. When I try to force my writing, it doesn’t work for me. You and Mich are prolific writers, and I truly admire that. It is quality work. Scott and I have also committed to spend more time together doing things we enjoy. Sending love, hugs and blessings to your whole wonderful family Nigel.
Love it, Joni..and thank you for the kind, warm wishes, my friend.
You are so welcome our dear friend. I am so excited about the upcoming book and being in Mich’s first anthology with so many writers I admire, including you, Nigel. We were both excited to see your sister is sharing as well, what a blessing, please send her my love. Big hugs
Congratulations to you as well Joni. Yeah, the anthology was a surprise.. and I was happy my sister agreed to be a part of it as well. I will relay your kind message to her.
Thank you dear friend. She is a talented poet. I will catch up with you soon Nigel I have a list going and I’m excited to catch up with a lot of people. I am finally feeling like my old self again praise the Lord. I have to read your stories when Scott’s available too as he enjoys your work like I do. I look forward to reading your pieces in the book and your sister’s too. Sending both of our love. ❤️ we have a power outage that’s supposed to last until tomorrow night so it’s pretty cold here and I don’t have a lot of power but I wanted to answer your comment. Thank you
Oh dear.. I hope it doesn’t last that long. Please stay sage Joni. Give my love to Scott.
Will do, Nigel thank you for your kindness. We lost about a 50 foot tree in the side yard. Grateful that God is taking care of us though and our house. We always hate to see a tree downed. Scott sends his love right back at you.
Beautiful, Joni, with wonderful images. 💖😊
Thank you so much Tim. I appreciate your kindness and so glad that you enjoyed it. Sending blessings always to you and your family.
💖🙏
Your words spark joy Joni, so beautiful and inspiring! Wishing you a lovely week ahead my friend! ❤
Thank you Tiffany. I appreciate your visit very much and delighted you enjoyed this piece. Wishing you a wonderful week as well. Blessings and prayers always my friend. ❤️🙏❤️
Beautiful imagery, Joni!
Thank you, Barbara. I appreciate your reading and kind comments. Happy Valentine’s Day. ❤️
Happy Valentine’s Day, Joni!
❤️💌 I still have a Valentine in one box with all my photos (not that many), everything from my childhood that I made in school for my mother. Now it seems a commercial holiday. I liked it when we wrote something real and put one of those little candies with a message in the middle of a heart. Simple but sweet. Maybe all of us women need to send ourselves a Valentine and remind each other just how special we are! So thank you for being special Barbara! Great Big Hug, too!
I agree! Great idea!
Thanks Barbara. We are special and we can celebrate ourselves. We don’t need anyone else to tell us we are – it is nice, but people know if they are trying to treat others the way they want to be treated. So we don’t need to have a man or anyone tell us we are special, a few words from someone who you care about written on a piece of paper and handed to someone can mean so much more than a hallmark card. Big hugs, love and appreciation for all that you do!
Exactly! Acts of kindness and love are daily offerings.
Thank you Barbara, and you are so right. You never know when you may be the only one that reaches out to someone. One birthday when I was living on my own and working, it was my birthday, and the only one who said anything to me or sent anything was my dentist. Although it was a routine act for the office to do this with their patients, it was still kind and I felt like someone thought about me that day, which was kindness.
How sweet of your dentist!
I know right. ❤️💕
Another way to think about “sweet tooth”
Now you are talking. ❤️🙏
☺️
This is beautiful Joni!
Thank you my beautiful friend. Please let me know if you did not get my email. The weather is still bad here and we are expecting more snow and potentially freezing rain again today. I sent my email to the one that starts with the letter K. I hope you received it. Sending you big hugs and lots of love, from our family to yours.
The color yellow seems to stand out to me in this!
Thank you for reading Dawn and yes, yellow is a predominant color in this piece and has lots of emotions attached to this color. Hope you’re having a great week. Many blessings.
Hello Joni,
This is a lovely poem, and the sentiment in your afterthoughts is touching.
I find a lot of stardust here with my many pals on WP. (& other places) I am a fortunate one. xx
Thank you Resa for reading my poem. I am truly delighted you found it touching. Sometimes I write how we think, which is often random, and especially when observing or experiencing emotion. I would imagine you create both your gorgeous designs and art, to a certain degree, where your intuition takes you. It takes a lot of patience to design clothing, but also so much creativity. When you add the recycling into the mix, well, let’s just say I made a D in home economics and much of that was because I had to make a dress and wear it to school. Your dresses are truly an unbelievable talent that displays so many talents. There is a lot of stardust on WP. I too am fortunate, thank you so much and have an amazing weekend. Hugs xxxx Joni
Joni,
You write beautifully.
Yes, intuition and inspiration are hand in hand.
Thank you so much about my gowns!!!
I’m most proud of them because I make them out of textile trash and cast offs.
Garbage can be gorgeous
Make art not landfill
Thank you for this wonderful response to my comment!
I’ll be back, and thank you for taking me out of Spam, if was in there.
XOXOXO
Oh dear Resa, I am sad that you have been writing me and I didn’t know it. I did not know you were in my spam. These comments have been coming to my site. I have been an enormous fan of yours for a long time. First thank you for your kind words about my writing. I am very critical about my own writing and don’t have any problem saying so. I have been an admirer of yours for a long time. We only generate one trashcan of trash per year. We recycle almost everything. We have been doing this for at least 19 years. We never wash our little smart car except perhaps twice a year and we do it in the grass, when it could use some water. Recycling is not a choice, it is a necessity if we want to keep the beautiful creatures that live in the sea and lakes. Well I will stop now. When I saw what you were doing with recycling of materials, and especially Diana Peach’s dress in honor of her latest book, I was so touched. Not only are your designs magnificent, but being the romantic that I am, I love the materials, the often low backs, and the longer trailing materials in the back. After reading your blog and seeing the story and gown that you designed with the materials that Diana W. Peach sent you to go along with her new release, which we started reading yesterday, when the power came back on, but that is probably what made me think I have to get this book. (What a run-on sentence) You and Holly are fabulous together and I think the Chicklets have a new post as well, another precious site. Just know this please, I applaud you so much for what you do. We lost about four 50 to 70 foot trees during the storm, and I cry over trees cut down at our home in NC, where having up to a dozen deer and turkeys were not unusual in our back yard. We moved to VA because I could not stand to look at that road just up against our property, and with 60 acres of a wildlife preserve, to build 4 multi-million dollar homes, they cut down old growth pines to build an enormous tree, but they used the border of our property. Money can even buy a wildlife preserve. We had a modest home and lots of nature everywhere. We had planted trees, milkweed, wildflowers, and the animals loved it. I am an enormous fan of what you do and you are so gifted. During my career, I wore recycled suits, from a wonderful second-hand shop in Bellevue, WA. Your blog and your clothes are so important because they show the beauty that can be created with second-hand materials. It educates people that read your blog, the importance of helping our dying world (and it is slowly dying) In fact I think the next time you do a collection you should put out a call for models and tell them it is for an environmental cause, and do a runway show at a vegetarian restaurant. I think it would be an enormous hit! Sorry I got on a tangent! People who know me, know I am passionate and probably think I am inappropriate, but I don’t care. I am old enough that I say what I mean and I am very passionate about recycling, composting and not using pesticides or much fertilizer – use compost tea. Who better than to showcase than someone who creates such beauty out of second-hand pieces of material! You are a true inspiration! Your work is truly splendid! Sending love, hugs, and perhaps Diana would let us all live in her latest book and you could be the Weaver? How wonderful a life that would be. Sign me up! Have a very special weekend.
Dear Joni,
I applaud and admire your lifestyle.
We recycle, reuse and do what we can.
We are vegetarians, and respect our earth’s animals. I feel fortunate to be in a position in life where I have the option not to have to rely on them for my food.
We live in the hard core heart of a big city, so I don’t get to see lots of green, and unfortunately many of our parks are filled with the homeless. Yet, I have art.
You write, I draw and sew. You understand how the arts can be an escape, healing, informative…and so much more.
I guess what I’m saying is – art is my forest.
Enjoy the nature around you. Like you say, the rich can take our treasures away for their purposes. I believe they could come up with kinder solutions, but then they wouldn’t make as much $$$$.
I look forward to reading more of your poetry, and whatever else you write about on your blog.
Thank you for your lovely comment.
You are a beautiful person!
Resa xo
I appreciate all of your extremely kind words. I think you are a beautiful person, too, and what a sweet thing to say. My knowledge of you and several other folks I have admired for a long time has come from reading Holly or (Rene) House of Heart. She is an amazingly gifted person, her poetry is just exceptional and a true joy, and an honor to read. This is how I am so fortunate to know about several other very talented folks, including you. Tim, who is amazing and an enormous animal lover, nature lover, photographer extraordinaire, talented musician and all around fabulous guy, I sort of met on my own.
I do understand that your art and creativity, and all original designs with recycled fabrics, are your nature. I love your studio and the light where you display your gorgeous creations as well. Money does not make anyone happy, except perhaps those that share it and can make a difference that truly matters, relationships, friendships, and connections with others, including animals, is what makes us happy. Having enough money to live and eat well is a gift, but one or two people having trees cut down so they can have even a 3,000 square foot house, I mean it just seems wasteful. However, those are just my belief systems. I too, look forward to seeing more of your posts. Thank you so much my friend. Sending love, hugs and joy!
Sending bundles of love back to you, Joni!
Holly is definitely got a gift.
Tim… 7 cats … alright!
Lol… we have lots of talented pals out here.
XOXOXO
We do have a lot of talented pals. Fun friends who care, that is such a gift. I was reading a review of your book that Diana wrote. It sounds splendidly entertaining. It sounds like a book where one could explore life behind the movie curtain and get a taste of romance, all at the same time. An enormous congratulations to you. That is so exciting. I have missed so much and now that I am feeling like myself again, I am pondering how I will ever catch up. Talk about talented, goodness, a book. When I go on your site today, I am hoping to see an announcement or something about your book. It was a lovely review that Diana wrote, it was on her site yesterday. It sounds intriguing, Resa! You must have the kind of energy that Diana has to do all that you do, what fun!
💖💖💖💖💖
So beautiful, Joni. I love the light touch of this one, almost ephemeral. Love and art should be like that, shouldn’t it? Full of delicate magic. 🙂
Yes, you are so right. Thank you so much for reading my little poem. My husband wanted to wait to read your book together, but I am going to just begin reading it and sure I won’t put it down until I finish. Your writing is mesmerizing and I am just going to read it this weekend. I started it out loud when I got it and knew once I got started, I would not stop until it was done, so that is going to be my Valentine treat to myself. I have been patiently waiting but he has been busy. You are another prolific writer, as are so many of the people I follow. Mike and I both get writer’s block and it is a pain. He is one of my favorite writers, I usually can’t make it through one of his poems without crying. He touches my soul with his words. Blessings to you my friend and hope your day is full of love!
Thank you, Joni. How fun that you’ll buddy read the book. I hope (fingers crossed) that you enjoy it. BTW, my review of One Petal at a Time is on my blog today. Hugs.
After having a power outage for two days, when the power came back on, that is exactly what we did. I was completely caught up after the Prelude. I read that out loud and then he began to read and we didn’t stop till we went to bed. Your descriptive phrases had me holding my breath during the great hunt. Then, as we began reading the first chapter, I was mesmerized by the creative idea, and how you describe every action, sound, color, movement (no matter how small) in this captivating world that you have crafted is truly a work of art! As an individual who sometimes writes prose, I am completely immersed in the characters, nature, and amazing imagination of yours. I have a post today but I will repost yours tomorrow on my WP site. Thank you so much for your kindness. What a thoughtful thing to do. You are very gracious and well, I am in awe of your work, as is my “buddy.” Big hugs and thank you again. I told my “buddy” that I can not imagine how you came up with such a creative idea. He too, is enjoying your book, and I look forward to reading more after breakfast, when he gets up. Have an amazing day in your colorful world of the Royals and the colorful creatures. ❤️
Thanks for the lovely comment, Joni. Your poetry and prose is exquisite, which makes your appreciation all the more meaningful. I hope you continue to enjoy the story, at your leisure, or course. Have a beautiful weekend, my friend.
You are most welcome. I meant every word. Thank you for your gracious words. We were already talking about looking forward to reading more of the book today. It is an addictive book for someone who loves nature and animals. Just that aspect is captivating, but add the “Weaver,” and wow, tantalizing. Thank you Diana and you have a great weekend full of adventure, imagination and beauty. I can only imagine how beautiful it is where you live. What a wonderful thing!
Hugs, Joni. And Happy Reading!
🤗📚📖
Fabulous Joni! I loved what you did with this poem! I loved your imagery, and use of words, well done it was amazing! Love you my friend! <3
Dearest Carol Anne, I appreciate your words so much. Thank you so much Carol Anne. I hope you have been seeing that I have been reading some of your work too. You express yourself so beautifully. I am so glad you have a happy and rich life now. You deserve it so much. I have read some of your work that has left me in tears, but it educates people. It sounds like you have the most wonderful mother in the world now and that you are truly treasured as a human being. I can’t tell you how happy that makes me. Also, your being an advocate for others is such a blessing. Much love right back dear Carol Anne. Joni ❤️
Reading your poem Joni & all the heartfelt replies, truly brought me joy. I love you Soul Sister.
I was working last night when I saw that you were reading my work smj – I showed Scott and said, guess who is online reading my work? We both smiled at one another, and I was thinking about how much I missed you. It is time to catch up soon. You have been on my mind and in my heart, my dear soul sister. You are my longest friend, and I wish I was not so far away. You are sweet to read all the comments as well. Let’s talk soon, dear friend. I love you and give the family my love.
Such an evocative piece! You’ve carefully, beautifully, and soulfully weaved mental pictures that fill the heart with awe and great admiration over the beauty that lingers about. The imagery here is top notch, Joni 😍. Thanks for walking us through this great dispensation of artistic splendour. 💖💖❤️❤️
Thank you my friend. What a beautiful and thoughtful comment. I truly appreciate your reading and commenting. Forgive me for the late response we have been traveling and stay where the internet is sketchy – a building built in the 1800s hundreds—a gorgeous old cotton mill. I hope you find love and blessings this week. Big hugs, Joni
No prob regarding late response, dear Joni. Glad you’re having some great time out. This is as it should be. Feel most welcome and have a whale of a time in your tours, my friend. Hugs and love ❤️ ❤️
