“Nature’s Whisper” Now On Chewers And Masticadores

Nature’s Whisper

your whisper crawls sheepishly into
my ear, singing me to sleep
the heavenly creature with a cleansing heart
cries out, please, do not weep
velvet moss where you lay your head
feathers calm, a timid glance
wildflowers beguile potted flowers to pull
up roots, and dare to dance
apples fall indulgently red like painted lips
a doe and two fawns eat their fill
awakening, a bird flies upon her bare shoulder
an angel kisses the earth, and again it is still

NOTE ABOUT POST ON CHEWERS MASTICADORES: I included the entire poem above because the last line of the poem was on a separate page in the document that I sent and wasn’t included. It was my fault, I should not have put the last line of a poem on a separate page.

Thank you Timothy. I really appreciate it. It was missing the last line, I should have never sent one line on a separate paper those people are so busy so I take full responsibility for the mistake but we put the last line on my site. When I read it I was thinking it is like a great worm hanging off a cane pole that just couldn’t get a bite. So, I looked at the piece and saw why the last line got overlooked. It was on a page by itself, very easy not to see. By the way, if you have a moment I would love to know if you get any monarch’s your way or if milkweed grows wild by the river. It is all over the place here in VA growing wild in the ditches and yet we have still not seen a single monarch. Sending big hugs and what a treat to visit you when you can get away and just spend time focused on your photography, it is breathtaking, and I think your sunsets, owls and herring are my favorites. Hard not to fall in love with the owls. Big hugs, Joni

Live and learn right? I have a large patch of milkweed for the butterflies.

      2. jonicaggiano says:

Of course, well hopefully we try to learn from our mistakes, I know I do. Tim that is so wonderful. We brought some with us from our patch in NC but then we saw that they are growing and flowering all over the place that the natural ones might be better. We will try planting some as well. Let me know if you have a crop this year of Monarchs, what a wonderful thing that is and I should have known you would have planted some for those butterflies. They are so beautiful and 50% of the migration did not make it to Mexico this past year, which is truly a frightening reduction. I just love the way you surround yourself with nature. Big hugs and thanks for the info Tim, Joni

There you go doing great again.

Oh thank you John. You are very kind my friend. I am glad you liked this piece. It took me a while to bounce back from the book John, it was hard to do, and of course somethings don’t really hit you until it is over. It was an emotional toll on me but I am loving nature and we have planted a bee and flower garden here in VA at our new home and have been putting out seed and corn and have critters again to look at and they bring me such joy. I can’t imagine being without it ever again. Moving was hard too. We didn’t even hear birds but now we have a turkey that visits and lot of other small birds, and deer too. So I am happy with all the blessings we are surrounded by. Sending big hugs and lots of love, Joni

You are very welcome, and I hope you enjoy your new home.

Oh thank you my friend. You are very kind. We are getting settled in but change is harder the older you get I think. We are grateful for everything we have. Sending big hugs and love, Joni

  3. Beautiful, Joni! Nature whispered in my ear and poked me in the heart. ❤

How sweet Tim, thank you so much. ❤️

Beautiful as always, dear friend. Yes, I noticed a difference when the last line is included. I’ve had similar things happen several times at Masticadores, and I’ve had to quickly email the editors to ask them to fix it. One past editor mistakenly changed the spelling of one word (“bare” to “bear”) in one of my poems and it completely changed the meaning of the line and stanza. I was too shy to ask for the editor to fix it that time, but ever since, I ask for a quick revision of it occurs. Another time, like in your poem, the final line was omitted, which left the poem literally unfinished (the editor swiftly restored the last line when I notified her about it). (I fear they’ll think I’m a pest sometimes!)

Anyway, it’s a lovely poem with such wonderful natural imagery. Another “Joni Classic.” 😊🌸

    1. jonicaggiano says:

Oh Mike thank you so much. I can be a pest but the editors do this job out of love for us authors quite literally. It is a time consuming job, and they do it because they want to give people a voice. Thank you though it helps to know I am not the only pest. They are great about helping though and I care about all the editors I have worked with as I know you do as well. Mich really wants to encourage young teenagers and gives them a platform. Can you imagine if we would had access to the tools and support young people have. Terveen encouraged both you and I at the same time. I am so glad you liked it. You are a writing mentor of mine as well. Thank you so much. Love bunches, Joni ❤️

Cindy I know how unbelievably busy you are so when I go in to visit I promise not to go back and forth with too many comments. I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I want to share one more thing – I watch the video of you with your girls both about three to four weeks out for delivering their babies and I tried to imagine what a very special moment that must have been for you. It was very touching to watch. Blessings to your entire family, dogs and cats included. Love you Cindy. ❤️🙏❤️

      1. ohhh never worry a bit and thanks for sharing that dearest! How sweet of you. It was an amazing experience and each birth so different. I can’t begin to tell you how exhilarating and exhausting too. They refused a baby class and now the Babette’s are sooo big. Awww the pack sends their love and hugs with licks too💓😘😻🐕😺🐶😸 It’s a zoo… love you too, Joni💓
