The Devil

Photo of Noah’s Ark 1780-1849 – oil on canvas by Edward Hicks (Painting is currently in the Philadelphia Museum of Art)

Mount Ararat holds the wind

in the silence of snow peaks

where splinters of the ark rub

nails creaking in her cypress side

hope traversing mountain wafts

lavender, jasmine, and wisteria sing

woeful at an oath once absolute

    1. jonicaggiano says:

Thank you so much my friend. God’s promise means a lot to me. We are doing a good enough job ruining our beautiful world and killing each other all on are own. I always think we must just break God’s heart. Thank you so much for reading, big huge, love and lots of coffee too xoxoxxoxo

  9. This is beautiful Joni. While it reads of hope, it still leaves a feeling of….a question. An uncertainty.

    1. jonicaggiano says:

I guess it does, I have no doubts about my faith or religion my wise friend. However, I feel we are doing enough to destroy our world on our own. The state of the earth and all these killings are so out of hand. I hope you are having a blessed week my friend. Sending my love and hugs, Joni

      1. haoyando says:

I wonder if it is a very big painting. I mean it looks like a very big one and it will look nice on a museum wall. LOL. I like those big painting in museums. Those ones that can occupy an entire wall of a room. They give you a very powerful feeling.

      2. jonicaggiano says:

I think it was actually. Yes we went to the Prada in Madrid, Spain and I was mesmerized by the enormous size pieces that were there. It is overwhelming I agree and it is so powerful to look at something that old and that large and try to imagine the artist working on it. Sending my love kind friend. 🦋❤️🦋
