This poem is dedicated to all the people that are alone that I know, love and pray for on WordPress and the world. This is a difficult time for everyone but those who don’t have family or friends that visit are lonely – take a chance guys and gals! I dedicate this poem to John and Brad – you know who you are and I am praying you will both find amazing ladies.
THE LONELY WIDOWER
Delicately, I place my love letter on the dew-kissed ground
Praying that in-between two bunny holes, it would be found
Growing milkweed for butterflies and flowers for honey bees
I often heard him in the evenings talking to the wise oak trees
Hummingbirds danced for him in the silent misty dawn hours
Wildflowers often transformed magically in southern showers
The earth seems to speak with this mysterious widowed man
There was a glow about him as he walked upon his mystic land
One night I saw him praying outside underneath a blue moon
Inside my lonely aging heart I knew, he would be arriving soon
Dawn came, I made a cake and a knock I heard upon my door
I saw a smile on his face, and I knew I would be sad no more

Our other little doggie that is still with us had surgery on her eye and she is wearing what they called, “The cone of shame,” you know what I mean. She is so tiny poor thing but it has to stay on. Thank you for asking about our doggie, she isn’t happy with her cone of shame and now she has to have an even bigger one. She got to stitches even with her cone, the cone is almost as big as her. Thank you Brenda for your kind words. I have always been that person who tried to set people up. One of my set ups ending in a marriage. I don’t like to think of anyone being lonely. This COVID thing has separated so many people from their support group. I think especially the very elderly are lonely if all alone. Hope you are well and having a great day. I rewrote the title of this piece in my mind as I read your lyrical and beautiful words across my tongue. ‘Widower’ became ‘wildflower’ for me, as the smile in your final words burst into a sunflower.
That sounds lovely. I love the beautiful sunflower. We grew them one year in front of the tree line in the back and it was hilarious watching the squirrels.
