Afternoons that Tasted like Love in Manila

by Michelle Ayon Navajas – Amazon Best Seller

Review by Joni Caggiano

While exploring this latest book, I found myself caught up in my own story. As I read on, I found myself rereading each page and realizing that the style produced vivid imagery that stirred all our senses. This prose could belong to any place in the world where one finds love.

Drawn into each paragraph, I was reawakening memories of my first love. Most of us fall in love at some point in life, and I saw myself in each fresh passage, each new section. The intensity of everything standing still or fading into the background, the aching desire for even the slightest show of affection.

Robbie, I still thing you should sell your amazing Holiday houses (made with real dough) to Costco. Seriously, you could donate the money to charities, you are just so talented. They still only have a Christmas one I think. There is not a Costco here out in the sticks where we live now, but I bet they would love it. Big hugs to you and the family and blessings.

Timothy, bless you for reading. Nothing breaks the heart like that first love if it doesn’t work out, but there is always a reason. Eventually we can see that life once again has a new season too. Big hugs and lots of blessing for the family.

Dearest Mike, Thank you so much my dear friend. Reviews are not easy for me to write. I have to take notes not because the book is memorable which this one certainly is, but because my memory is not what it use to be. This was cathartic for me in a beautiful way. Thank you so much for your kind response, Mike. I appreciate it. It tugs at the heartstrings but in the end we all learn lessons and protect ourselves and eventually move on. The book ends in a beautiful victory for the writer’s self-esteem and she doesn’t grow embittered, instead she feels grace. Big hugs and love from both of us.
