Skin leaching brown hues like fragments of oozing figs gone bad
Windows reacting with endless weeping of humidity trapped
Vases with parched flowers thought to bewitch and beguile us
Are eaten by dust mites exploding with toxic, endless self-shame
Shrouded in enigmas an ill room of wicked waywardness came
Crack by unnerving crack she brought it down with her blame
Sightseers slithered in like snakes through the moaning walls
Her mind like vaporous clouds from drink and drugs at dusk
Heart used up like paper on a gift long ago abandoned and spent
Laboriously like a doll she once assembled her scenic face for hire
Absent the care to linger near places were mirrors consumed like fire
Lying in bed now longing for sweetness like a lone bee in a magnolia
Slumber eternal without any lingering hope, death was her only desire

Wow! Such poetry in a fading magnolia blossom, metaphor for deeper meanings.

Joni, sweetheart, this is a fantastic piece.
Lying in bed now longing for sweetness like a lone bee in a magnolia
Slumber eternal without any lingering hope, death was her only desire
You make death as silky and soft like the petals of a magnolia.
The entire poem is a beautiful metaphor.

Oh thank you my kind friend. I am so pleased you liked it Sidharth. I try to imagine what it must be like for women who have felt forced into a life of prostitution so they can feed their children or because they have no place to go. As artists we have to sometimes put ourselves into dark places in order to create. Knowing slavery is such an issue in some countries really disturbs me too. I am so blessed and so grateful to be loved and safe. Have a wonderful weekend dear friend. Love π Joni. Hugs

Thank you sweet Tiffany. I appreciate every single word and it truly touches my heart as your work amazes me. I wonder where you start, what gives you the way to start with your layered pieces which I love and of course all ways where did she get her color scheme idea. I hope things are going well. We have been busy getting one house ready to sell and are out of town in Asheville, NC looking for a cabin to live in. Sending you so much love dearest friend. β€οΈπ€πππ₯°

It is a smaller house but with lots of character and a continual natural spring. Mostly it is just old growth trees, or at least fairly old.
Lots of deciduous trees. Thank you Stuart for being so very gracious and kind. Always wishing us the best means a lot to me. Love you both. π€β€οΈJoni
