Magnolia Sweet

Poem by Joni – Photo by Joni

Skin leaching brown hues like fragments of oozing figs gone bad
Windows reacting with endless weeping of humidity trapped
Vases with parched flowers thought to bewitch and beguile us
Are eaten by dust mites exploding with toxic, endless self-shame
Shrouded in enigmas an ill room of wicked waywardness came
Crack by unnerving crack she brought it down with her blame

Sightseers slithered in like snakes through the moaning walls
Her mind like vaporous clouds from drink and drugs at dusk
Heart used up like paper on a gift long ago abandoned and spent
Laboriously like a doll she once assembled her scenic face for hire
Absent the care to linger near places were mirrors consumed like fire
Lying in bed now longing for sweetness like a lone bee in a magnolia
Slumber eternal without any lingering hope, death was her only desire

  2. Joni, sweetheart, this is a fantastic piece.

Lying in bed now longing for sweetness like a lone bee in a magnolia
Slumber eternal without any lingering hope, death was her only desire

You make death as silky and soft like the petals of a magnolia.
The entire poem is a beautiful metaphor.

    1. Oh thank you my dear sweet friend. I am so touched by your words. You always get my poetry. I think you definitely talk my language and I feel like I get your beautiful words most of the time and understand their meaning. I am so blessed by your kind words. Thank you sweetie. 1. Oh thank you my kind friend. I am so pleased you liked it Sidharth. I try to imagine what it must be like for women who have felt forced into a life of prostitution so they can feed their children or because they have no place to go. As artists we have to sometimes put ourselves into dark places in order to create. Knowing slavery is such an issue in some countries really disturbs me too. I am so blessed and so grateful to be loved and safe. Have a wonderful weekend dear friend. Love 💕 Joni. Hugs

Feel a bit like a heal I still haven’t been to your site. We are in the middle of getting our house ready to sell and looking for a house in the mountains of NC. We are currently in or close to Asheville. We found a place this morning on line we were crazy about and told here it literally just went on the market by the time she talked to the agent which was twenty minutes the house had so many offers
He closed the bidding at 5:00 tonight and would not even show it to anyone else. So please know I love you Cindy and I love you. I should have just
Told people I would be off line. So glad you haven’t kicked me off your list. ❤️🤗💕😘🥰 I am in awe at your peacefulness in doing videos. Love and hugs 🤗 Joni

    1. Thank you so very much for reading and for your most beautiful comment. I am so grateful for your friendship and your support. I have to apologize that I have been neglectful about visiting your site. We have been busy looking at homes and getting our house ready to sell. I should’ve sent a notice out I had no idea how much work it would be. Thank you again you have made my weekend. Love you Joni ❤️🤗💕🌹

      1. My dearest Joni, you don’t need to apologize at all. It is absolutely fine. Read my posts whenever you have time sweetheart. And I hope you find the perfect house soon.
        Absolutely my pleasure❤❤🤗🤗
        Love and hugs ishita❤🤗🤗🌹💕

      2. Oh thank you for always understanding my friend. We just got a call and are looking at another house. We don’t need much to be happy when it comes to material things. I love you Ishita and am so grateful for your loving support. 🤗❤️❤️💕😘😘🥰 Joni

    1. Wow, that is incredibly kind Anna, thank you so very much. I appreciate this more than you know. Have a wonderful week and know that I love you and continue my prayers. xoxox

  4. Wow. I don’t even have words to describe how I feel reading your poetry. Each line is so intense, so perfectly crafted, it’s simply amazing what you can do with words, Joni! You have the most amazing gift! 🥰🙏🙌

    1. Thank you sweet Tiffany. I appreciate every single word and it truly touches my heart as your work amazes me. I wonder where you start, what gives you the way to start with your layered pieces which I love and of course all ways where did she get her color scheme idea. I hope things are going well. We have been busy getting one house ready to sell and are out of town in Asheville, NC looking for a cabin to live in. Sending you so much love dearest friend. ❤️🤗💕😘🥰

    1. Thank you Stuart you are very kind and it means a lot coming from such an accomplished author.

Well we are making an offer tonight on ten acres of trees and a nice little home. How stressful. We will see what happens. Thank you and Valerie for always being so understanding, kind and supportive of me. Love you both Joni ❤️🤗🎉

      1. You are so sweet we have gotten a no and have provided a counter.
It is a smaller house but with lots of character and a continual natural spring. Mostly it is just old growth trees, or at least fairly old.
Lots of deciduous trees. Thank you Stuart for being so very gracious and kind. Always wishing us the best means a lot to me. Love you both. 🤗❤️Joni

    1. Thank you so much dear Dawn. I was lucky to have that bee in the photograph. I do hope we start taking better care of God’s bees. There are so many patents on metallic bees but how could they ever replace God’s beautiful work? Love ❤️ Joni

    1. Thank you so much my dear friend. Sending lots of love and some hot coffee to help keep those fingers going.
I need another cup myself. Stay blessed my friend, I so glad I found this in my pending folder. xoxoxoxo
