“Marry-Go-Round” Now Live On Hotel Masticadores

Marry-Go-Round

trails of guilt, a stony terrain
set in sad eyes like doleful stones
fledglings snarled in hollow ribbons
birthing anguish in once-happy homes

black and white film swallows
choices in love’s marry-go-round
like a deer’s empty tummy at night
or birds that harmonize without sound

singing rivers have no place to bend
fissures grow in me where ravens weep
love twists secrets like scented flower braids
prophetic whispers kiss blue iris, on bloody feet

Thank you dear Timothy. You are very gracious with your comments and they mean so much to me. We have known each other for quite a while now. Time just flies by so quickly my friend. Sending you great big hugs and blessings to you and your family. Today should be the final 10 year adoption process for my three grandchildren, which is how long they have been with their adoptive parent’s and we are praying that all goes smoothly. I am hoping that they will finally feel safe after their horrific beginning in Haiti knowing they will always be part of our family. I just felt like sharing that with you today. They have waited a long time. I send you and your family and extended family blessings and love, Joni 🙏

      1. Amazing, Joni. Blessings to you and your family. 🙏

    Hello dear mlle Joni.

A very thoughtful poem. I try something. It ain’t properly a translation; more a rewriting in french, that gave a new poem in the mist of my own writing. I hope you still like what I have done. It is from that strophe :

singing rivers have no place to bend
fissures grow in me where ravens weep
love twists secrets like scented flower braids
prophetic whispers kiss blue iris, on bloody feet

    ***

    ***

Reste le souffle prophétique bleu de lys
comme cette vie que l’on traverse
pieds nus sur les arêtes du roc
mêlant le sang à la terre

    ***
Take care of you dear friend; and i keep you in my thoughts

My dearest Myriam, I am so touched by this strophe you have written. Just so tender and so stunning. What an amazingly gorgeous piece. I am so flattered that you felt inspired to do this. It is so beautiful.

      Translation to English

The song of the rivers that we hold captive
In a crash against the walls; cracked
      they gradually undermine the mortar
      of the ages

      ***

This place buried in the heart
where the crows pour out their tears

      ***

And love weaves its secrets of flowers
      and perfumes

      ***

There remains the blue prophetic breath of lilies
like this life that we cross
barefoot on the ridges of the rock
      mixing blood with the earth

  7. A sad lament for love (and innocence) lost, Joni. So many bear these scars — not only the lovers but the children of these failed romances.

    1. jonicaggiano says:

This is so true, Anna. I know you have seen many such situations at work. I appreciate your comment and your reading. I think divorce is easy these days and people don’t necessarily try everything before they give up on marriage. Thank you again so much for your comment and for reading dearest Anna. Big hugs and many blessings, Joni
