Cracks In Our Stones

Our Wall in Kirkland, WA 2022 – ©️ Photo and poem by Joni Caggiano

cracks in the old stone cry out to me
like a whimpering fairy with golden eyes
smooth still, aging skin upon the river swept rocks
sweltering, charming a parasol’s reflection of the mirthful sun

as you rub their skin, it is soft
like a new pup’s underbelly, yielding
as lovers, we often lean upon our stony surface
you, the royal stem holding my maiden flower within your arms

our gait hastens as pores bleed
with a craving so intense our wrapping
a silk cocoon binding bodies with opulent smells
consuming us entirely, we reach our field of spotted flowers, our nest

we spread our blanket with purpose
untying my corset ribbons, your breath quickens
naked, I feel your heat on my aching bosom; crave you
like the sole daisy grows, mystifying in our stonewall without logic

beguile me; gentle breezes brush my thighs
flowers around us sing songs of old; you map me
closing our shutters, we transform into one, yielding promises
trees still, a ladybug with her red velvet coat pauses, wrens croon of love

What a picture she paints..I blush reading between the lines. And I read aloud too . Naughty naughty naughty. 🫣
This is gorgeous writing Joni. Seduction in poetry. You’ve set a scene here that’s befitting of a nice bottle of red, a cozy place in front of a fire, and a nice woman in my arms… And me reading this of course, in a sulky baritone . Ooo la la… 🔥🔥🔥

    1. jonicaggiano says:

What a lovely compliment Nigel. Thank you so much for reading and all the nice things you said. That really meant a lot to me. Yes, this would be a lovely piece to read in a sulky baritone. Some will think it is too suggestive but life must be written about and all of the good and the bad. Blessings to you my friend. Sending love, hugs and blessings always

      1. byngnigel says:

You know I truly don’t care what people think..😂 I believe writers should be allowed to express themselves..in fact, I am a firm believer in freedom of speech.
And I love the fact that it is so suggestive. Why hide or humanity?
I loved it.. every single word, Joni. 💜💜💜

      2. jonicaggiano says:

Dearest Nigel thank you so much for your comment. I too, agree with what you are saying. This is the way I see poetry – like a woman with a gorgeous figure – what is more appealing, her in an alluring one piece – or someone with a string in their butt cheeks and something that barely leaves a thing to the imagination covering their chest. I wore white gauze dresses – off the shoulders in the summer with a white fresh picked Gardenia behind my ear at night – and I always wore a one-piece bathing suit. Poetry should be suggestive, we don’t hesitate to write about anger or death but being attracted to someone and their touch feeling good is just the truth. I don’t care for fulger language or an anatomy lesson either. However, there are people that like that type of poetry and there are companies that supply it. I am only one person but those are my thoughts for what they are worth. Thank you Nigel. So glad you liked the piece too. Big hugs and love from both of us!

  8. Beautifully sensual, like a river that starts to rage while flowing over the waterfall. I love your joining of nature and human into a ripe luscious, verse of desire. You do this type of poetry so well, so naturally Joni. Happy New Year my friend!!

    1. jonicaggiano says:

Thank you so much Karima. What a beautiful compliment. I like you my talented friend believe everything is connected and so I can’t help but feel it in my soul. Happy New Year and one of the things I plan to do today is go into your site and read your and Dale’s new work. I haven’t been in the space to do your and Dale’s work real justice Karima. Fifteen years with Esther by my side, and then to just not be there anymore should bring more peace but I am not selfless, none of us are – although we certainly try to be as much so as possible. I miss her and there is a whole in my heart right now. I think I can read your work and give it my full attention too. Klara was my favorite and you have said it is done similarly and I cried most of the time we watched the videos, both of us. Your talent is monumentally astounding to me as Scott and I watch your work and can not begin to imagine the amount of time it takes to do even a minute of “Your Third World” such a gift. Alhamdulillah!

    1. jonicaggiano says:

Thank you Allan, I am back working more in WordPress and trying to slowly catch up to the folks I enjoyed reading and looking at their beautiful work (Photography) You put your reading on the trail with you as you capture the beauty of the landscape but surprise us always with the tiniest bit of nature’s glory in between her cracks, and just poking out of the dead grasses. Such an art. Happy New Year to your family as well, you are looking good and it was great to see the family out together. Blessings my friend.

A poem for you dear Joni.
” You danced near Lake St. Clair,
    tossing me butterfly kisses.
A ladybug rest on my hand and I made a September wish.
I wish to be able to watch you dance with the lake,
    forever and one day.
To have the blessing of love near.”
