Mary
Mary, did you sense the breath of the angel Gabriel, dutiful, sent to bestow
A message from God, entrenches you, an angst-ridden sense of woe
Mary, do not be afraid, for I bring great news you must know
Mary, God finds favor in you, your womb will blossom with a son to carry
A virgin graced, engaged, how will I explain myself, can I still marry
Mary, you will deliver a son, call him Jesus, obedient even if wary
Mary carries the Son of God, Joseph aware by dreams, virgin clings by his side
Nazareth to Bethlehem, Caesar orders census ninety miles, to ride
Joseph must pay more taxes, for with him, rode his bride
Mary, did you pack food, stores of sardines, figs, dates, almonds, and bread
Five-day journey, frozen to the bone, yet to share their wedding bed
Could you feel the baby move, drained, family yet to be fed
Mary, did olive branches tear your purple robe, touching supple, teenage skin
Were you unsettled, giving birth to a child that would never sin
Feeling sanguine, until told there wasn’t room at any inn
Mary, how tired you must have been, looking at that child, giving notes to sigh
In a trough, Joseph put fresh hay for the newborn Savior of the world nearby
Mary, angels found shepherds in the fields nearby and told them of Christ’s birth
God chose humble men to see the Savior and spread the joyful word first
They left to give honor and blessings to the Savior of the Earth

I wish all of you a day of happiness, joy, and thanksgiving with your families and friends. Let’s all hope that the coming year will bring more love around the globe and less deprivation of the bare essentials in order to maintain life for so many. May there be less war, hate, and death as a result of differences of opinion and a whole lot more compassion and tenderness towards one another. Love to all, whether this message gets to you via the World Wide Web or not, regardless of any differences one country has with another, I send you my love and prayers for blessings.

Thank you so much Dawn. I was honored to do a Christmas post – and especially to do a collaboration with Francisco. I am such a big fan of his talent. I never really feel worthy to write about God or Christ. I am thrilled you enjoyed it Dawn. Thanks for reading in both places too. Big hugs, Joni

We had a very quiet Christmas my friend. I hope you were able to get with Family as well, and if not Family that you were with friends, I was wondering if I might try giving you a call tomorrow, if so, just let me know what would be a good time. Also, only if you feel like talking. Sometimes I just don’t feel like talking to anyone but I would love to talk to you when it’s convenient. Sending loves and hugs your way my dear friend.
