Scarlet eyes dart fretfully
Blue orbs veiled in layers
Guises maintaining thoughts
Furtive cracking of their ribs
Gurneys transport beloved life
Kinfolk wait in a soundless void
Postponing her solemn decree
Choosing youth to now revive
Aging man gently turning bluish
Seeing a vision of a blue-gray heron
Weary, gloved his hand now in hers
Ducts are dry, like his thirsty skin
She looks up and begs inaudibly
Lord, please ease our burden, I implore
Spare us God and seize not one more!

My husband’s mother is in a rehabilitation center after falling and breaking two wrists. She has had no visitors for three weeks. My husband’s father feels helpless.
Many people are suffering, including healthcare workers who are putting their lives at risk daily. I hope that we can all come together as a family and pray for those suffering, sick, or dying. Also, I trust that we continue to support with supplication for the safety and well being of all public workers, who are also at significant risk while helping the general public. May God bless you all for your sacrifice and all who have lost loved ones they can not grieve for properly. My heart goes out to you all. Love Joni and praying nightly for you all.
Beautifully said. We are all being bombarded with a never-ended stream of pandemic news, information and opinions, but I love stopping and thanking the thankless work of the people putting their lives and loved ones in harm’s way for strangers. Thanks for doing this!
