About Barbara, the editor of MasticadoresUSA:
Barbara Leonhard’s poetry is curated in various literary magazines and anthologies. She’s also written a best-selling poetry collection Three-Penny Memories: A Poetic Memoir (Experiments in Fiction, 2022), which is about her relationship with her mother, who suffered from Alzheimer’s. Yes, I think Barbara is one of the longest running editors in MasticadoresUSA. I love all the magazines but I have enjoyed all my relationships with the editors of that magazine. I can never tell you how proud I am to have you as the Famous Artist you are in my book and on my cover! Such a gift literally! The book is going to do so well. People are wanted it for facilities they donate to annually, in different places, I feel blessed by that. Instead of donations people that know me want to donate books this year instead of money! Your story reminds me of so many of the female patients I had when I was a psychiatric RN. It was very difficult listening to some of them. You are a strong lady and a powerful voice. I’m glad you did not let the past consume you, as so many people have done. You turned it into a powerful force for good.
Dearest Dawn, thank you so much for your very kind words. I truly believe that I survived only because of my extremely strong faith. My mom tried to kill me one night going 80 miles an hour on a dirt road, headed right for a telephone poll, I didn’t dream this up, or imagine it either, it happened. When I shut my eyes and prepared for pain and then to see God, when I didn’t feel the pain, I thought God had spared me that, but our car and my very drunk mom was in my Aunt’s driveway. God or an angel picked up that car and sat it down in a safe place. I have already started reading your beautiful book and I don’t know why but I felt I should start at the end. I like what I have read so far very much, but I am not surprised in the least as you are a wonderful writer. Your book is already doing well and I think that you will have a best seller on your hand. I truly wish the very best for you my friend. I will try to get a review for you as soon as I can. I have so many people I have books to read that I care about in this community but we have known each other for a long time and I am particularly fond of your style of writing.
