First Kiss – new publication on MasticadoresIndia

My First Kiss

freckles rearranging erotic patterns on pale, poreless skin
cotton candy, and elephant ears dripping in sugar and butter
air shifts smell mixing with scented moments, holds onto life
white eyelet dress clings to sun-soaked skin; its holes breathe
virgin lips plump, yearn for a first kiss, weary of practicing
guilty for praying for my first kiss, selfish prayer, tears move

To read the rest of my poem I hope you visit MasticadoresIndia, also if you haven’t subscribed, I hope you will do so.ย  Blessing to everyone this Friday, and hoping for a wonderful weekend full of love, peace and inspiration.ย  Hugs, Joni

    1. Thank you so much Tim. Your such a kind supporter of my work and I really appreciate you. We are feeling particularly blessed today as we got through the hurricane with out any damage anywhere. Sending you blessings too Tim and great big hugs, Joni

  1. As always Joni, a true work of art filled with the strength of your spirit and the kindness of your heart. Love, peace and blessings to you both ๐ŸŒนโ™ฅ๏ธ๐ŸŒน

    1. What an incredibly kind compliment Francis. I appreciate your words very much. We are feeling so grateful this morning we lost electricity and the wind was frightful but no damage anywhere from the hurricane. Nature is something else. Sending love, peace and blessings to you both as well. โค๏ธ

      1. Oh, that is so good to hear that you were not in the path of “Ian” after the devastation it left behind in south-west Florida! Thank God! And you are very welcome. We are always looking forward to your words, your songs, your lovely pics and we appreciate them for the artistic value that they have. Lots of love and peace and blessings.

      2. Thank you so much to both of you. We were very blessed to have great wind, tree branches everywhere but that is all. Thank you for your very kind comment. We two feel the same. Blessings to you both this Sabbath. ๐Ÿ™โค๏ธ๐Ÿ™

    1. Thank you Terveen. It is always a pleasure to be on MasticadoresIndia with all the talented folks that contribute there. Sending my hugs and blessings always, Joni

    1. Thank you so much. We girls remember that first kiss. I practiced with a hand mirror and I must have looked so silly but I did it in the quiet of my room. Sorry it took so long to get back to everyone but we got the tail end of the hurricane and lost power. We feel so grateful this afternoon after seeing that there is no damage, with such fierce winds. Sending you big hugs and appreciation for your support, Joni

      1. Yes, I think all us girls did that! ๐Ÿ’‹
So good to know you are safe and sound. It’s tragic what’s going on down there. Prayers for all who had damage to their homes and especially devastating for those who lost family members. So sad for everyone. Stay safe, Joni! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ ๐ŸŒน

    1. Oh thank you so much Tiffany. We all remember our first kiss. Thank you so much for reading. I wish work would slow down for you. ๐Ÿฆ‹โค๏ธ๐Ÿค— Big hugs and love my beautiful red haired friend. ๐Ÿ™โค๏ธ

    1. Because I consider you a good friend Stuart – the guilt about anything sexual even when we were little came from my mom. My first kiss was when I was about five from an uncle that would practically choke me with his tongue. My guilt didnโ€™t come from my faith. Although as you know I was a very strong believer especially when I was little. A lot of religious people take verses out of context to drive guilt into everyone. Those are one of the reasons, in my opinion, โ€œChristians and the churchโ€ turn off so many people. That is not me my friend. However I understand the question. Give Valerie a hug and thanks for reading. I treasure your friendship because we are friends even if our beliefs are quite different.

      1. Sorry, Joni. That was insensitive of me. Inherited guilt is such an incredibly complex issue and one many sufferers never resolve. Early childhood experiences can be so devastatingly formative and difficult to escape. Thank you for your generosity.

      2. There is nothing to apologize for really Stuart, you are one of my first good friends on WP. I actually have no guilt, the guilt I had is long past gone. I was a young child that was molested and it is sad for that child or any child that is and I know you would never want that for any one. You have a big heart and you are a wonderful dystopian writer, I have nothing but warm feelings for both you and your beta-reader. It is wonderful to have a spouse that is supportive which Valerie obviously is my friend. Blessings, hugs and love to you both, Joni

  2. You have a rare and lovely talent for bringing words to life. I enjoyed reading this evocative piece. Memories return to warm my mind.
I hope the world allows happiness to thrive. God give us strength to make it so. ๐Ÿค“

    1. Thank you deeply for your kind words Robert. I appreciate it very much. I too, hope that God will give us the strength and the ability to wake up and realize that life on this planet is a gift and not something to be constantly destroyed. Thank you for reading my words, and I hope you have a blessed evening. Hugs and love, Joni

    1. Those are old memories of my mom trying to always make me feel guilty and ashamed. You know me my wise and blessing of a great writer friend – I say what I feel. I never feel guilty about the pleasure I have in life now. Although I do feel guilty about the cozy life I live with shelter, food, and mostly my health, when others suffer all over the world. Most of my deep down soul’s pleasure comes from the songs of the birds, trees they perch upon and from the peace I get from God and my best friend, my husband. Thank you kind friend, sending hugs and love! You are like a wise bird God put in my path. You also write your truth. โค๏ธ

    1. Thank you so much for reading and for you kind comment as well. It is fun we get to enjoy reading each other’s work on the same magazine. Sending big hugs, Joni

    1. Thank you so much for reading me Holly. I appreciate it and your lovely comment so much. I have thought of you often and hope that work is not as crazy. With love, hugs, blessings and respect, Joni

  3. What a delightful piece with incredible imagery I enjoyed almost as much as my first kiss Joni!
I’m not sure why but I just had to refollow you. The oddest thing!! ๐Ÿ’—

    1. Cindy that you for your very kind comment. I have had to refollow some people every single time I go back in. I also have still not gotten a fix for the ticket WP is working on which happens due to the many issues they have to work through every time there is a new update to a browser. (This is an issue they have had for over a year and I am not the only one – there are many people that are complaining). I have had several people tell me no matter what they try they can comment but never leave a like on a piece. I tell them not to worry it is an issue with WP and like you, it is the sweet comment that means the most. In order to follow someone else’s work I have to hit the like button and while I comment the like button goes off, some times that happens three times. I wait until I am sure it stays. Most people would be in too big a hurry to move on to the next read. People like yourself work all day, then come home and work all night. I have a new computer (my second new computer in four years.) Why – I was told when I took it to the store both times that my computer simply wouldn’t update with the newest chrome revision. Chrome is WP’s favorite and recommended browser. They spent hours on the phone and we wiped the computers and then took it in to the store when the techs told us – answer (there is no way to fix your computer except to buy a new one.) Much of my work is on Instagram – however I am posting almost daily on twitter. I am also a regular contributor on MasticadoresIndia. This is a big explanation but I feel you and my other readers deserve to know why this is happening. I have unfollowed two people on Instagram that left very obscene photographs. I would never unfollow a follower. A big congratulations on your daughter’s gorgeous wedding again and your SpillWords monthly award Cindy. That is an honor and a very big accomplishment. Blessings always to you and your beautiful family! Love Joni

    1. How wonderful to hear from you Anna. Thank you for your kind words always. You have been on my mind lately, I pray all is well. We are going away for a week and things should be quiet, perhaps I will finally get a chance to send you an email and we can catch up. Sending you lots of love. xoxoxoxo
