Blood Petunias

Poetry by Joni Caggiano on December 9, 2021 – Photo by Tobias Bju00f8rkli on Pexels.com

coming from the land of the drunken sun
where he ended and I barely dare become
she was a crow that brought us all together
rum drizzling, thunderbolt winter weather
rioting lot she was afflicting all kinds of harm
living on those four acres of our teeny farm
bleeding red petunias into fine white sand
thriving while growing things on fertile land
forgiveness giving us yearnings for grace still
placing my faith in the light of God’s Holy Will

The good and bad go hand-in-hand. Where there’s suffering, there’s the will to heal and the faith to move on. There are certain things that we can only accept and make peace with. That is the true learning of life. Blessed are those whose tongues confirm this. A lovely piece, Joni. Much peace, joy and love. 🙂

    1. jonicaggiano says:

Oh thank you my friend. Your words are so kind and gracious as always. We just got back from being with family close to the Seattle area and saw my husband’s father. I got to see my grandchildren too.

How are you my precious friend. I truly hope you and your family are well. Also have you heard of MasticadoresIndia? Terveen Gill is the Editor, she is very kind, and loves a great short story. The owner is J RE Crivello. I know you are likely busy with studies but you should submit a piece. I am sending you and your family my love. I also see you have a new post up so I will read that with enthusiasm. Love to you and check out Masticadores. MasticadoresUSA is edited by Gabriela and I know you know her. She just wrote a number one best seller poetry book which is amazing. I truly hope you are having some fun dear Ishita. Love ❤️ Joni

      1. Ishita Gupta says:

It is absolutely my pleasure dear Joni. I am so glad you met your family! I am sure you must have enjoyed a lot.

I am doing well Joni, thanks for asking. Thank you so much my friend for thinking about me! I will definitely try to submit a piece for MasticadoresIndia. Thanks a lot for telling me about this, it means so much. I do follow MasticadoresUSA! The pieces there are truly incredible. I am really proud of Gabriela, and I know her poetry book became a bestseller. I was elated when I got to know that! She certainly deserves it. I also saw that you got an honorable mention for the poetry contest she hosted. I’ll get around to read your poem soon.
        Love and hugs🤗🥰 Ishita

      2. jonicaggiano says:

Yes, I am very happy for Gabriela she is a brilliant poet and her style is so unique. She also is all about helping others too. She is doing a brilliant job with MasticadoresUSA and I too have had several pieces in there as well. The reason I mentioned MasticadoresIndia is that it is in English but she is a brilliant short story writer and publishes a lot of short stories. You write beautifully too and your stories are very compelling and thoughtful. Terveen, is also a lovely person. Thank you so much for reaching out. I hadn’t seen anything new in a while and know you are extremely busy. Please take time to enjoy being young. Love and blessings to you. ❤️🤗🥰🌹😘
