moon hangs low
words slash in single file
blood plunges on Italian tile
an infant takes four steps to mom
dad is raking leaves on browning lawn
red-headed nurse prays for the dead this dawn
I am dedicating this poem to nurses, doctors, and anyone working in any capacity within the healthcare industry. A special thanks to our beloved community member Holly Rene. There are still people who are dying all over our world. Blessings to all those who have lost loved ones to this virus. (Reuters put out a report this Friday that the US has surpassed 700,000 coronavirus deaths. They also released a worldwide total of now over 5 million deaths.)

Thank you for verbalizing this.
You are so very welcome. A lot of doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals have died as well. I don’t know how they do it. Thank you. Have a blessed week. Hugs, Joni
oh wow Joni, your poem is so palpable and sad and well written in so few words. Truly hard to believe how many deaths we’ve had due to this virus. Blessings of love my friend💖💖💖
I know, the public isn’t as well informed any more. One hospital in Montana ten days ago were at 160 percent capacity and I read an article that said all these people were begging us not to let them die before venting them because they generally keep you heavily sedated and many were in multiple organ failure. Very sad. One doctor had a patient on a gurney in the hall. They were triaging and 60 beds short, he took his own feces and threw it at a Dr. They had to call the police multiple times to come to the ER to control patients.
Sorry sweetie not trying to be morose. On a happier note have you had your reading yet? A big Congratulations 🎊🎈🎉🍾 for your latest poem in MasticadoresUSA. I responded there I believe. It was beautiful, you should feel so good. It is a magazine like Spillwords except in many Countries, such an honor to be there. They have over 700,000 subscribers. So a lot of people will be reading your work. Gabriela (Button) is doing a magnificent job as is Terveen. Yea, so happy my friend who is never far away. I love you and so glad your poetic side along with your multiple talents is shining. 🤗❤️💕🥰😘Joni
A beautiful dedication with a precious work of poetic art. Lovely Joni 🌹
Thank you so much my talented friend. Your support is a blessing to me and always appreciated. It is finally cooling off for a while in the mornings here which is so nice. Sending my loves, hugs and prayers for you two. Also hoping someone with a big home will come along and buy that entire collection. It is just a shame to break it up. Enjoy the rest of the week in Turkey you two. ❤️🤗💕😘🥰
Thank you so much dear Joni. We will be returning to Spain soon and here the weather has turned very wintery already. But in València it is also cold…love to you both and blessings.

You’re welcome, dear Joni…much love ❤️ ✨ 🙏
Thank you and much love coming your way. 🤗❤️🙏🙏Joni
Blessed are the caregivers!
Amen, thank you for saying that. Many are suffering from severe PTSD. When I was working as a nurse I still remember my patients that died on my shift. It definitely has a profound effect on you but these conditions are like nothing I have ever dealt with. I honestly don’t know how they do it. Hugs 🤗 and love Jonikins
The first words grabbed me, and the rest held me in place here Joni. This is sadly beautiful.
Thank you so much wise one. I can’t help but wonder long term what it is doing to the staff. Thank you so much reading and so glad it made an impact. Thank you for that feedback I really appreciate it. Stay safe yourself, my wise friend. Love ❤️ Joni
I am so worried for them. They have been battle scarred beyond belief.
Colleen, thank you for your comment, I feel the same. Your comment ended up in pending. I have decided that if you don’t get to all the comments the same day they come they must be automatically placed in here. Anyway sending my love to you and I am very worried about the medical staff and also the patients that are doing all the right things and are dying from not being able to get in to see a cardiologist, neurologist, etc. They are also victims here. Thank you for your friendship.
ANd thank you for yours. I am very grateful for all of the medical people I have come in contact with. they are so tired.
And WP keeps unfollowing people and I don’t know it! If you don’t see me at your place that is what happens!
Wow, this is nuts. I have been having comments not showing up under notification (comments) then later I go into my site and tonight I had 22 and many of the people I have been following for two years it says I am not following them. You and I are having like problems. I am glad that we know each other well enough to know that we are not ignoring the other. I have never felt like that. I treasure your friendship Colleen. Have a beautiful rest of your week. Love and hugs, Joni
Thank you Joni ❤️❤️

Well said, Joni. My best thoughts to you in this trying time. 🙂
Thank you Tim and the same to you and all those loved ones as well. Love ❤️ and hugs. 🤗❤️💕🥰
It is amazing how you pick the best pictures to go with your heart-warming poetry. Lovely thoughts and dedication to our health workers who are not appreciated enough.
Thank you sweetie. I appreciate what you said Brenda it is true. By the way when will you be offering up your next piece of autobiographical writing? It is so well done. I looked recently and you had not published it yet. Sending my love Brenda. 🤗❤️💕
This is really wonderful writing, Joni. The contrast of the living and the dead. Only prayers can be offered to those who are no more. But there’s so much that can be done for the living. And healthcare professionals are in the center of it all. This virus has been a traumatic experience.
Thanks for sharing this. Much peace and joy to you. 🙂
Thank you for your gracious words. I feel deeply for the healthcare workers. My best friend was at their Montana cabin when she started having chest pain. They were transporting her in an ambulance so I started doing research and the hospital in Billings was at a 160 percent capacity. A doctor had a patient throw his own feces on him and a ventilated patient. The doctors were busy trying to save a 24 year old man but he didn’t make it. Montanafreepress.org/2021/09/21/Billings-clinic-icu-overrun-with-Covid-patients/. Thank you so much for reading Terveen. Have a wonderful weekend coming up. ❤️🤗Joni
By the grace of God I was treated at 2 different hospitals in Montana & received the very best of care. I was not feeling so well, but made sure to thank each & every health care worker & Doctors who cared for me at both hospitals & I honestly felt like they were deeply touched by my gratitude to say a simple thank you, I appreciate you, you RAWK & how are you doing. I left a love note on my white board in the hospital too, saying thank you & giving some love back. These people are truly amazing & we are lucky to have them care for us. They are human too.
Oh thank you for that beautiful reply. I know you were the best patient ever. Never a bother. Thank God for watching out for you and for all the staff who worked with you. I am so glad. We sure prayed hard and I still believe God dropped you into the best hands of the best doctors. In fact I didn’t even know their were intermediary care cardiologist and you got the best one in the nation. That was no coincidence. Praise God. I know you thanked every single person you came in contact with. I know it helped them to keep given their best care. God bless all the medical staff and everyone who works in the medical field right now. Thank you for sharing this my sweet and dear friend. I love you Janette. So glad your home. 🤗❤️💕🧚🏻🧚♀️🧚🏻
Thank you Tim for reading and your support. Sending you both hugs and my love. 🤗❤️
The nurses sure need our support right now Joni. I am certain they often feel abandoned by the craziness that surrounds them. Thanks for your words and hugs to you. Allan

A moving and impactful poem, Joni!
Thank you so much I appreciate your kindness. ❤️Ingrid
Love your rhyme. It’s such a beautiful image of autumn, and a little sad and a little hope and a little of everything.
Just like life. Thank you as you are very thoughtful and I miss you very much. Love ❤️ Joni
Another wow, Joni. Such a sad poem, so many people dying. It’s beyond frustrating. All the best to you my friend, love and hugs! 🥰🤗
Thank you sweetie. It is sad but unfortunately true and I am tired of it too. Thank you for your sweet comment. I am sending my love and hugs too. 🤗❤️💕🥰
What a beautiful poem, and tribute to all those we’ve lost and to the valiant front line workers, dear Joni. Gorgeous, my dear friend. Love and hugs to you. ❤️🥰xoxo
Thank you so much Jeff. I am glad you liked it. I can not imagine honestly what it is like for those caring and working in medical facilities. Thank you for your reading and support my kind friend. By the way I didn’t mean to send you a coffee cup a minute ago. I prefer a heart. 🤗❤️💕😘🥰🙏 love Joni
You’re most welcome, Joni. Always my pleasure. Mmmm. Indeed, I cannot imagine it either. Hahaha. I just read that comment and was wondering. That is so awesome and funny. I prefer hearts too. 💖💖💖😍😘
A beautiful tribute to those who serve. Many a nurse has been the sole witness to the passing of a life forgotten by others. During this pandemic, nurses have of necessity been the intermediaries even between well loved patients and their families. Theirs is a difficult, but noble profession. <3
Thank you dearest Anna. Yes nursing is a very hard profession. I don’t know how they manage now, many suffer with PTSD. I try and thank everyone from behind my mask, although I am fully vaccinated and have had the booster and I am sure you have as well. I love you dear Anna, Joni
Wow wow! I love the flow, your message and tribute! 💥👊💕😘🍮🍮
