Frailty Amongst The Lies

Poem by Joni Caggiano – Picture by Pexels

Frailty the stuff of life where burdens lie, and people bury
Unsung songs, misery, and grave hardships twice we carry

Bruises moving like brown tadpoles in a dry southern creek
Voices shallow telling lies like traitors when they dare speak

My heart is broken by daggers thrown from a vengeful voice
Choosing kindness gifted in golden threads is an angel’s choice

Tenderness lies bound upon my shoulder like a wounded thing
As bitter words fly with angry winds and birds that cannot sing

    1. Thank you Tiffany. You know I always wanted to paint but I cannot draw a decent stick figure. Coming for a very talented young artist like yourself your words mean so much. You are very talented my friend. Your art is beautifully. I am trying to catch up on reading today as well. Please stay healthy and safe. Sending you glorious fairies 🧚‍♀️ with creative visions for you to paint. They love assisting and you will be teaching them a new skill. When they come back home they can at least hopefully with your help I can make a stick figure. Love you Tiffany 🤗💕❤️Joni

    1. Thank you for reading dear friend and for your incredibly comment. I can’t even begin to imagine the pain our Savior felt. I have tried to imagine it as just being betrayed by your own people would have been so painful. The temptations he suffered by the devil unimaginable.
So grateful for His Love and Sacrifice.
Have a blessed evening my kind friend. Love ❤️ Joni ☕️☕️😘

      1. Glad you enjoyed your walk, Joni. You’re in the mid fifties, Lynette is in the minus 20s, so we’re in the middle, around 2C today and unlikely to get warmer, so it’s warm clothing when we venture out. At least it should be dry! Keep safe and stay well.

  2. A great job. Your imagery is once again breathtaking, Joni. I love the phrase “kindness gifted in golden threads”. For abuse victims kindness is such a rare and precious commodity. It takes great courage to identify frailty as the stuff of life. Frailty is the quality for which abuse victims castigate themselves. Predators appear to have all the strength…at least all the weaponry. That we have survived their onslaught and their lies is a major achievement. ❤ ❤ ❤

    1. Oh Anna your words gave me goosebumps. Always the truth about the heart of the abused. I bet you were one amazingly wonderful lawyer working tirelessly to get to the truth no matter the cost to yourself.

You are right of course we truly didn’t have any power, we were children living with a situation that made us feel incapable of feeling strong or good enough to fight these monstrous battles. I am glad you liked that line. You are right I sought kindness wherever I could and I found some with teachers at school when I was very young. I dreaded summer and holidays which meant being at home.

“That we have survived their onslaught and their lies is a major achievement.”

Thank you for your truthful and gracious comment dearest Anna. I survived but I will never be completely whole in someways. I know that when my time comes and God takes me home I will be whole and completely healed. Sending love and hugs to you Anna. 🦋😘🤗💕
