My new poem “Зник (Disappeared)” Live on SpillWords NYC (Viewer Discretion Advised)

Body bags from mass grave found in Bucha, Ukraine – Photo courtesy of https://news.liga.net/ Poem by ©Joni Caggiano

grief falls from my pocket
puddles of barren moments
bloody dolly circles a filthy drain
laughter, and love in a gilded locket
dangles deep between my cold breasts
captives of war, our daughter’s voice dead

    1. Thank you Cassa. I really appreciate your comment. It is so heartbreaking what has happened and continues to happen to the Ukrainian people. I can’t imagine what these people must feel and how do survivors ever get over something like this. Thanks again for reading Cassa. Big hugs. ❤️🤗

      1. Amen. Sometimes I feel like we feel too safe in the US. We are blessed that we have never had bombings for months. We have well trained military that are injured horribly and so many deaths in other countries. However every person that is related to someone who is in a war is affected by the outcome of that person’s engagement. You are right we pray every day for the Ukrainian people. Blessings to you dear Cassa. Thank you for such a thoughtful comment about what is happening in our world. Love to you. ❤️🤗

    1. Thank you Nancy. I really appreciate you readying and your kind comment. We can’t close our eyes to horrific atrocities. Have a blessed week. ❤️

    1. We only touch base on our computers and we follow what we consider reliable news. Huffington Post is one of my favorites and Washington Post or CNN. I don’t ever watch TV not for the past 20 years. Too depressing. When it comes to genocide I feel like I have to weigh in. I appreciate your support and reading Allan. 🤗

      1. Sorry this ending up in “that you know folder.” Always wonderful to hear from you. Thats for reading and responding. You are so right my friend and I must admit that I am sorry that so many have to suffer because of one crazy dinosaurs. Too much suffering in the world already with out another World War. Hugs to you and your lady. xoxoxo

      2. You are so right my friend, there is no place in this world or any world for Putin – the days of dictatorships should have been long gone. As of 2020 there were 3 in Latin America and South America, in Asia 27 including the middle east and in Africa 22. “Reference World Population Review” Thank you my friend we don’t need these dictators who are guilty of genocide.

    1. Thank you Tim I appreciate your compliment truly. I questioned the use of the photo so I especially appreciate that comment. Thank you Tim. ❤️🤗

  1. It is with love, hope & respect you wrote this poem for the people in Ukraine. It is a sin what is happening.

    1. Thank you so much my dear friend. Janette thank you so much for letting me use your gorgeous frog photograph. It is a sin what is happening. I can’t stop thinking of how people continued to party and ignore what was going on around them at first when Hitler started his genocide with Jews, artist, certain intellectuals and many other people he had chosen to be exterminated. This is really no different than that to me. Love you and can’t wait to see you in Seattle or some place, hopefully your beautiful home. I love you and miss you. Big hugs. 🦋🤗❤️😊🌹🌷🌻😍😘

  2. Your poetry is profound, Joni, very well done. You can’t read this and not feel immense sorrow, thank you for being real, the truth must be told. Love you.

    1. Thank you Tiffany I really appreciate your saying that. Sometimes I feel I push the envelope but I have to be true to my truth. Thank you my friend. Love you too. ❤️🤗🦋

    1. Thank you for reading. I know it is hard but it just reminds me so much of how World War Two started. Blessings to you my wise friend. Your review is on its way. I wonder if I would ever have that kind of courage. I have always admired people who travel great distances on their own but this is altogether something different and learning the power of nature and embracing it. Have a blessed week my wise friend. ❤️🤗🦋

      1. It is out! You wrote a wonderful book my wise friend. I enjoyed it and would recommend it for anyone I follow. Even the hard core poets like myself, you just can’t go wrong. A real joy. Blessings to you my friend. Another blogger I like that is a wild think and wrote a YA dystopian novel is my next read. I think he has written like nine books. Not doing it with my husband because it takes too long, I would have read your book in a week, but it was fun with my husband doing all the accents. Sending big hugs, Joni

      2. I forgot to comment about your husband reading it with accents when I wrote about your review! Thank you again Joni. ❤️❤️❤️
