My New Poem “Sunflower – A New Page” Live On MasticadoresUSA

POEM BY © JONI CAGGIANO @ PHOTOGRAPHY BY WELLINGTON CUNHA – PEXELS

I am a sunflower golden, proud, and tall

dancing playfully toward the bright sun

no  longer living in the land of the small

Dots of death at night bees that can sting

mom sewing me shut to curtain my truth

No longer huddling up a cowardly thing

Hiding my food in panties so I could flee

Seeking wisdom as stem and flower grow

consoling the wee child who once was me

Please read the rest of my poem at MasticadoresUSA.  Blessings and love to each and everyone in our loving community.  Be thankful for your hot shower, food, clothing, and your ability to walk, talk, see and hear.  That special gift of touch, wow – thank how we would miss that.

  2. This is absolutely beautiful. The pain is so evident, but so is the healing. That’s a wonderful balance to life. So much learning and persevering. Only gratitude and strength emerges. Congratulations Joni! 🙂

  3. You have woven in some amazing lines in your written portrait of a sunflower coming into her own.. Some of my favorites are:
“mom sewing me shut to curtain my truth”
“a survivor, my stem, leaf, and flower whole”
I love the success story of your sunflower and God’s grace that allowed her to grow to her full beauty.. So beautiful Joni… ❤️🤗🌹🦋

    1. Thank you Karima for your beautiful words about my poem. I think we both enjoy one another’s honesty and vividness in our work. I admire the beauty in the alternative life or world that you create. Every time I watch one of your beautiful movies I think of Avatar. There have only been two movies I have ever watched at the theater twice, that was one and the other was the children’s ciDisney movie Up. I remember being able to see the hair in the mans nose and thinking how amazing. So that is what comes to mind when I visit your site. My appreciation for your beautiful friendship and the worlds you create in both your poetry and your “movies.” Love, Joni

      1. Thank you so much Joni…I am thrilled that we met too ❤️ I am honored you love my work…as I love yours:)🌹🤗 Much love to you always, Karima

  5. Beautifully worded poem of growing up with trauma Joni. How we respond to the trials and tribulations makes us who we are. Hope all is well. Allan

    1. You are a sweet heart Allan. I have been off line a bit lately taking care of a few things but we remain blessed. By the way thank you for reading and very well said. I am strong, and grateful for all the beauty and loving kindness God shows me every day. Blessings to you and your family. Hugs, Joni

  6. AHHH! That was soooooo beautiful!!! Left a message over there and here I am leaving You a billion hugs, oceans of Love, more days of Sunshine than You ever dreamed You’d live and of course about 3000 of Your favorite cookies, baked with Love by the dragons who absolutely insisted and have left my kitchen in quite a state!!!! 🤗❤️🐲🧚🏽🍪💕😊

    1. You are such a dear sweet friend Katy. Those cookies just put on the weight I managed to get off, haha. I can’t use covid as an excuse for my ten extra pounds. I am glad you liked the poem and have enjoyed the dragons baking they are marvelous. Thank you Katy I hope you have had lots of sunshine too. The weather has been strange here but we live in a land we create so lots of hearts will be covering your home tonight and the fairy’s will be singing you Irish tunes from the old days. Sending you golden charms and fairy circles. Love you, Joni

      1. OH My goodness!!!! WOW! Love this! Thank You! I SOOO look forward to the Irish tunes. I’ll be listening to them under the glorious Full/Flower/Blood Moon Eclipse tonight! Talk about magical! Yay and sigh!!! And You know, if I’m not mistaken, on page 235 in the exceedingly official Rulebook of Life it states, and I quote quite accurately:

When One is going through recovery from any ailment, but PARTICULARLY a surgery which stressed them out in mind and body, an extra 10 pounds is required to fuel the body for all healing that will be taking place.

So…You see?!! It’s all perfection!!! I hope You are well and feeling entire Universes better! Sending You golden charms and fairy circles right back! Love You, too!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️!!!

      2. Katy you bring me smiles all the time. Your big heart and sweetness brings me happiness. Yes, I am healing well, thank you my friend. I am at least two universes better.
