My New Poem “Death of Innocence” live on Spillwords press nyc

Archangel Michael, Painting by AKJ via Artmajeur

his mighty breath shakes the Carpathian conifers
angels caress the Black Sea with salty blue tears
yards of peat moss release threads of red energy
fire salamanders scream out in their volcanic rage
you will not put Ukrainians in your silencing caves

  1. So good to see your work recognized again for its beauty and creativity. You have really grown as an artist, and I am so proud of you! I am ready to hand over the “Author of the Year” trophy to you in 2022!

    1. Thank you Brad you are a sweetheart. I appreciate your kind words I have had some great mentors you definitely included. You have taught me many things. I wish you could teach me your discipline. That last line made my day Brad and also made me smile. You are a blessing in my life Brad. Sending you big hugs, love, blessings and always my prayers. ❤️Jonikins

    1. I am sure you do my wise friend. I am not watching too much news on my computer as it is heartbreaking. Hope you are well. I will be visiting today, sending my love. ❤️🤗🦋

  2. Wonderful Joni, stirring stuff! Inspirational; evocative and comforting at the same time! Let’s hope for an end to this horrible; needless war. And yes, thank goodness for all the people taking Ukrainian refugees in! 🙏❤️

    1. Thank you Ken. I appreciate your thoughtful words. I am praying for an end as so many people are my friend. I am so grateful for the kindness people are showing the Ukrainian people. Hope you have a blessed weekend. Big hugs 🤗 Joni

      1. Indeed you are Joni! Powerful prayers they are, I reckon! 🙏👍 If only prayers had the immediate impact of the bombs and guns raining down on the poor Ukrainian people and could physically girded the Russians to lay down their arms. But they are certainly equally if not more far reaching. Hope you have a blessed weekend too! 🤞🙏😁🤗

      2. It is devastating to watch the news so I really limit myself. I don’t know what God’s plan is but I will keep praying my friend. Let’s hope that this stops soon. Big hugs 🤗 Joni

    1. We did too when we lived in Seattle in our first small community. They were the kindest people. I can’t imagine what it must be like for your neighbors. It must be so hard. Thank you for your very gracious comment my friend. I am certainly praying for the Ukrainian people and all those who are being so gracious and bringing them into their homes. Have a blessed weekend. ❤️🤗🦋🌹love and hugs to you two, Joni

  5. Great symbolism Joni. The Ukrainians and their leader are far beyond heroic. This is an invasion built on lies and the world needs to know it will not be stopped by meekness. Stay well Joni. Allan 🤗💓🤗

    1. Thank you Allan. You too. The Ukrainians are doing a great job of trying to stop them but I hear what you are saying. Sending big hugs. 🤗🤗 You two take care of each other. ❤️

    1. Dear Miriam, thank you so much for taking the time to read as I don’t know how you editors do it. I know for sure I have done something right if my piece drew tears from you. Such a great poetess. Maybe I am more sensitive to people who are lonely because I was lonely for so many years growing up and even when I went to school and college I mostly drove to beautiful places by myself and spent the day in nature. Dating was an awful experience. So I have always been a big fan of fixing up people. A guy once asked me to marry him and he really did love me, I knew he did and I loved him in a way too, but I knew he wasn’t the one. I ended up introducing him to an older female friend I knew and loved and she was the spitting image on a young Jackie Kennedy and also a nurse. He forgot me within a month and married her so fast and was the happiest I had ever seen him. She had three children too. Love is a funny thing, but something that we all need. Thank you for your kind words Miriam I just love your work. Big hugs and love always, Joni 🌹
