Ameri-Ku: “After All These Years”

An Ameri-Ku by Joni

Oh my mesmerizing love, you awaken my deep desire
with your hot hand on my bare shoulder,

intoxicating smells tantalizing taste buds, our fine wine
whetting our appetite for one another,

toasting our love, art hanging, and baskets of light,
dancing notes by Auclair-Fortin playing, my heart now sways
twenty-five years passing like a few days

The Ameri-Ku/Euro-Ku is a style of poetry created by Francisco Bravo Cabrera (aka Valenciartist). This style is an homage to the traditional Japanese Haiku that highlights aspects of American/European/Western culture.

For more information about the definition of this new poetry style, please visit Francisco’s site to read his latest Euro-Ku

  1. After twenty five years
    you’ve earned the right
    to write exuberantly
all about it, Joni 💞 🥂

( … but as my grumpy
    grandfather would say,
    “Twenty five years? You
get less for murder!” 😎 )

      1. Thank you Joni. Well, the weather here is good, mostly, but there is a bit of a rain-storm crossing by the province, fortunately here in the capital it rarely rains hard. Take good care and all the best, big hugs to you and Scott.

      2. Yea, glad to hear it. You look like a natural in front of the crowd. For my recordings I just use voice memo but it would be nice if you could do a video recording. Big hugs 🤗 to you and blessings my friend. ❤️

      3. Ha! I’m a nervous wreck of a guy before I get up Joni! But that seems to change once I start reading my poems. 📖😁 Yeh, I’ve used a voice memo before but definitely keen on doing a video recording! 😁📹

    1. I am so glad you love the new form Tiffany. Yes, Francisco developed the philosophy and specifics for the style. I love it too. You are sweet Tiffany to write such a kind comment. I am glad the love is transported through my words. Thank you. Marriage is a blessing when you have the same core values and faith too. I think it takes work to make it last and to keep the passion. I remember when I was young and I thought love was something that never hurt and also held the exact degree of passion as when you first met your person. If you are truly blessed I believe you work together become great friends and still have passion but not where you are on every piece of furniture in the house, if you know what I mean. Sending you and your love a big bag of toys via air balloon. Oh and don’t forget you still have to work next week. Have fun!!! Big hugs Tiffany. Love ❤️ Joni

    1. Thank you so much Ingrid. I love this format which Francisco developed along with the Euro-Ku that Francisco developed and copyrighted. He explains the philosophical reasoning behind the format and the reason for the differences from the original Haiku.
Thank you so much for reading Ingrid and I pray that you are feeling better today and that the little ones are better as well. Sending my love and prayers your way. Love ❤️ Joni
