MY POEM “Lonely employment” live on edge of humanity

you ride your bike, crying down the hard dirt road
your morning spent killing flies
their price, a penny a carcass
handing me my money through the soul of their drunken hollow
you wonder, would they spend a penny for me
I buy hot balls in a brown paper bag with my pennies

  1. Sounds like lonely employment, indeed Joni. I remember doing odd jobs for a few pennies when I was younger. I think Mom used to throw a few cents my way for weeding the garden. Likely why I hate it so much to this day. I did have to swat flies, but that was for free. We never had much, but we always had a roof and food. Hope you are doing well. Allan

    1. Thank you for reading Allan. I was off line for two days. Thank you so much for reading. I use to weed too but that was good time with my mom. Sober time and I loved any attention I got. We were also poor that never bothered me. Hope all is well with you and yours. Sending big hugs 🤗 and thanks my friend. 🦋🤗

  2. Oh that brought back the memory of my childhood. I skipped down the local grocery store to buy cigarettes for my father. I was so little, had to reach up to the counter with money, the shopkeeper could barely see me.

    1. Thank you Navin. You are so kind and generous. You must be awfully busy. I am so happy for you and all your accomplishments this year. You should be so proud of yourself. 🤗❤️🦋🌹

  3. Sound like quite a story Joni and it’s reminiscent of going up the street everyday to buy cigarettes for my mom with a note. I hated it and the smoke and never took a puff ever again!
Your words always leave imprints.. going to read the rest and congrats on 1,000 followers! 💖🌈
