Hopeful hearts

Poem by Joni Caggiano and Photograph by Zelle Duda from Unsplash

like ducks in rain, we went splashing
kissing me tenderly melting fiery lips swell
throwing back our wet heads elatedly laughing

my thin hips and round breast show
whiffs of lavender with a hint of musk smiles
picking me gently skyward, touching my face slow
he will ask me to marry, he already knows I will say no

exploring each other one last time
strong jaw now quivering as tears run down
why do you have to leave my hopeful heart behind

    1. Thank you so much dear Francis. I am glad you liked it. You read me well. I am extremely sensitive. It is difficult to hurt any ones heart. Love to you two always. Much love and prayers and blessings. ❤️🤗🥰 Joni

    1. Thank you Tim. This young man actually asked me to marry him in front of his family. It had a happy ending as I felt badly that he was terribly hurt. I introduced him to a very good friend of mine who was the spitting image of Jackie Kennedy Onassis’. She was about 18 years older than my friend but they married and raised her two children and had one of their own. This was a story of fate. Thank you for your support Tim, hope you and your sweetheart are both well and happy. We live in some wild times my friend. Stay safe. Big hugs and love to you both. 🤗❤️🦋🥰

  2. Oh Wow!! I just read your postscript reply Joni…when I was about to write something totally different… At first read, I wanted to hug that poor rejected man, who gave you his passion but was not right for a lifetime…then I see the whole picture and I love it !! I so agree, we never really know why people come into our lives.. it might be something they could have never dreamed…or you:) Beautiful romantic storytelling with a special twist, I did not see coming..Love your poetry….as you know HUGS 🤗❤️🌹

    1. Thank you sweet Karima. You are so kind to me. You are right things happen for reasons we would never have guessed. I loved him but not enough to spend a lifetime with and I knew it. This woman I introduced him to was such a good woman and unusually beautiful. They fell in love quickly and I loved them both so I couldn’t of been happier for them. Thank you for reading and your comment. Your writing I love too as you know. I am making my way to all the peoples writing I love as I can. As you know I like to spend my time with the people I read. That is why I feel like I have relationships with people in the community. That makes me feel truly blessed. Have a beautiful evening. Love Joni ❤️❤️

  3. Oh yes, Joni, you are one of the generous few who will give of herself wholeheartedly, in each comment and in each reply. It is so refreshing and feels so much richer to be in communication, because for a moment one is really united to your poem and you to them…Yes, we have a lovely community on WordPress..We need more hours in the day though…to read and know everyone:) Love and big hugs..Karima
