Autumn Veil

Photograph by Valiphotos on Pexels – Poem by Joni Caggiano

raspberry birthmark rolls from under my nose
starlings move as one, painting a canvas vast
cold am I in red silk, my arms hug one another
shining in the light, I mold a small quilt of you
orange, red, and ginger a kiss of fall’s bequest
jubilation rides me on her ornate celebratory veil
until winter blows her gust and bares her face so pale

      1. I know you do Suzette. You are a special lady who is gifted and filled with the love of God too. I can see that and feel that. I am so glad I met you. Love you, blessings to your family. ❤️🤗🌹

      2. Joni, the feeling is mutual. Your gift shines with his love and grace. Thank you for your graciously beautiful words of appreciation. Blessings and joy to you. Stay safe.

      3. Thank you Suzette for your words of encouragement. I truly appreciate them so much. Blessings and joy to you my sweet Suzette. Love you, Joni xoxoxoxo

    1. Thank you so much dear Francisco and I do appreciate your very kind comment, I am delighted you liked it. By the way congratulations on selling two of the beautiful new collection. You really out did yourself with those. Sending love to you and Gül. Have an amazing evening. xoxoxoxo

      1. You’re very welcome Joni, and thank you 😊 very very much! There’s still a lot of the collection left and I am now working on Phase III, in watercolours as well but in a larger size…coming soon 😊Take good care and our love from Spain ♥️

      2. I really thought someone would buy that whole collection. I am going to see my daughter and her companies owner, I am going to see if they may be interested in investing in some of your work. If we could even get one of those in either of those homes it would or could potentially open up a market in an amazing market. Sending my love to you and GÜl. You two have a blessed evening. We are leaving on the 18th of this month and will be gone for twenty days. We are going to see my husband’s father who lost his mom during Covid. Looking forward to seeing my little grandsons. Love, Joni (My daughter is already a big fan)

      3. Thank you so much Joni. We do truly appreciate your support and God willing something good will happen. Blessings and love to you both. We are sorry to hear about your husband’s loss but also wish you a lovely holiday with your grandchildren! Our love, peace and happiness we send from Spain.

      4. Thank you both so much. It will be wonderful for my husband to spend time with his dad who is still in good shape. Thank you for all your kind well wishes. We leave in two weeks and still have a lot to do but are excited to spend time with family. I am going to send Gül a DM. Love you both ❤️🤗

    1. Good afternoon John. Thank you for your kind reblog. It feels like our first day of winter here in the south. It is in the forties and windy. We are actually taking a plane trip. My daughter called and offered to fly us first class and put us up in a nice hotel to quarantine for a few days (although we have both had our vaccines and my husband gets his booster today) and we will get to spend thanksgiving with our little grandsons and the family. Then we are picking up my husband’s dad (who is 83) and lost his wife this year, and taking him to the Oregon coast. He has been through a lot this year. We are going to try and have a wonderful time with him. He is in great shape and he is crazy about trains. Sending my love to you my friend. ❤️🤗🌹🦋 Joni

    1. Thank you Cassa. You are so sweet, but too kind. Not too creative as when I was young, especially I had a bright pink raspberry colored birthmark under my right nostril. It faded as I got older. There were four girls in our family and all four of us had a raspberry colored and shaped birthmark at the beginning of the hairline at the center of the back of our necks. It is so strange how we inherit some odd things. Thank you for reading and that sweet comment. It made me smile. Sending you lots of love Cassa. ❤️🤗Joni

  1. A real celebration of fall’s colour Joni. We are in a drab state here now as leaves are long gone, so thanks for the burst of colour. Have a wonderful day. Allan 🤗🤗

    1. Thank you Allan. I thought that Pexels photographer did a beautiful job of capturing all the colors. Here in NC we have a lot of pines so we have green year round which is so nice. Yesterday we had about nine deer and one was a buck. Where we live they have cleared room for thousands of new homes. There is a natural reservoir behind us just past where our land ends. I think the deer come here because they know they are safe here. We put out food for them and they bring their young fawns with them. We don’t have all the beautiful places to walk that you do but it is a gift to watch wildlife in your own yard. You two stay healthy and blessed. Hugs 🤗 Joni

    1. Thank you so much Tim. Big congratulations for being one of the finalists on Shortprose. You are a wonderful poet Tim, and you have been blessed with so many artistic gifts. Nothing you do honestly ever surprises me. I will catch up on your site today. Scott enjoys your work and likes to watch you videos and look at your photography with me. Sending hugs and lots of love. Joni 🤗❤️🌹💕🦋
