whisper little owlet to the cloud dropping morning mist
kissing the surface of golden leaves shivering silently
avocado coloring on moss, still lingering, drinks fresh dew
tomorrow morning the lips of new fawns feasting on you

slowly the sun peeks at us while tipping his old straw hat
anoles conduct a slow ballet on ruddy heating bricks
yellow the garden spider guarding the center of his web
prayers are uttered all over the world before kids are fed

    1. Thank you Tim. I wish I could take credit for that photograph. We have a family of deer that live by a stream behind our house. This year there are two baby fawns. They munch on the moss and loved the leaves this year of Scott’s butternut squash. I can never get a good picture through the windows. I don’t like to scare them because I want them to come into the yard to snack. There are usually close to a dozen. Have an amazing day. Love to you two. 🤗❤️

    1. Believe me I understand. Do you ever wonder how you managed to work full-time, keep a house, cook, and volunteer and various places, boy I sure do. I guess I kept every hour booked when I was in my 30’s and 40’s and now I try to do things I want to do. Writing is a gift to myself, and I make time for that. You are a great story teller and I enjoy your stories because kids today don’t know what it would be like to play kick the can, or climb trees or make mud pies. Life for the poor (and I talking about my family) was about being creative and I was. Sending you love Brenda. xoxoxoxxo Joni

Life has morphed into something that lacks the bike rides with cards pinned to spikes and laughter that came like a burst of wind till we teared up. We played until dark and felt exhausted at the end of a day spent in the woods. Kissing boys in the back of cars while sharing cracker jacks. Love you, Joni

    1. Thank you sweet Tiffany. We actually had a buck in the yard this morning. They don’t usually come with the does and the fawns but this morning one did. I have photos of them but they are never very good as I don’t like to open the doors to get a photo because they scatter. I just feel blessed to be able to have them Grace us with their presence.
