The Dual faces of love

Poem by Joni Caggiano on 10/21/21 – Mark Kuiper Photographer for Unsplash

surrounded in a cloud of light blue
sleeping with warming visions of you
trailing through the vast desert for days
licking yearning lips, as I am thinking of ways
of indulging all your deepest desires, guarding my pace
while gently caressing every square inch of your beautiful face

The Dual Faces of Love

seeking you among the red dunes
promises shallow like an arid pond
or a forgotten creek that dries aloft
life withering that once blossomed within
surrounding yourself in shadows of bleak blue
hence my lonely thoughts of that once honest you

  1. You’ve such a beautiful gift Joni, and you use it to compose such lovely verses, passionate, deep and so meaningful. Your poetry paints and sculpts true works of art. Cheers and love to you both from us here in Spain. Wishing you a great weekend!

    1. Oh thank you so much Francisco. Your words are so thoughtful and mean so much. Truly thank you. Cheers and love received and sending a bunch back from the two of us. You two have a wonderful and blessed weekend. Love ❤️ Joni

  2. Passion, sorrow, longing and love. These emotions bleed from your words. Yes, love has two faces. One soft, one harsh. And both coexist. It just depends on which emerges stronger. Lovely writing, Joni! 🙂

    1. Thank you very much for reading and this lovely comment. Yes, you are right there is always a little trial here and there with love. Have an amazing weekend Terveen. 🤗❤️

    1. Thank you Allan for your kindness. We are hanging in there. We are finally going to make a trip next month to see my daughter and our grandchildren. It has been to long. We will fly direct, and quarantine for a few days, then visit our family in Kirkland, WA. Even with the vaccine we must be careful. I am very excited about seeing everyone. Hope you two are both well also. Sending big hugs and love to you and yours. ❤️🤗Joni

      1. My daughter bought us first class tickets, and still that is scary. I have had the booster because of a condition I have. We are so careful everywhere we go. Moderna booster was approved on Wednesday by the FDA. Hopefully everyone will be approved for that too as well. 🤗❤️

    1. Brenda thank you for reading and for always being so gracious. Yes we have been vaccinated fully and we will quarantine near Seattle before visiting. I am so excited. We will mostly be with my daughter and our grandchildren. I wanted to tell you that your stories are very interesting and I think I enjoy them so much because they remind me of a time when people could have fun without technology. Looking forward to the next one. Sending my love. You stay safe with your family as well. 🤗❤️💕🌺

    1. Thank you so much Ingrid for reading and for your kind comment. I think we artist of words feel things passionately. I believe often when we are in love that we are incredibly zealous and when we are hurt we are deeply hurt. Perhaps that is just my experiences. Have a wonderful weekend. Love ❤️ Joni

    1. It is sad isn’t it. When we get to heaven we will experience true and pure love for the first time. I do think animals love us unconditionally. I believe that we will be able to talk to animals in heaven. There are so many things to look forward too. You are such a beautiful soul Anna and I am so grateful for having met you. Sending you hugs and gratitude for your precious friendship. Love ❤️ Joni
