you are there swooning on the tinge of the gardenia scent
on the lime green-eyed wing of a Luna moth tattered and spent
resounding within the impassionate vibration of the newborn’s cry
when you pray for the window weeper as she tarries and lets out a sigh

I find you

in the glimpse of dewdrops like notes on turning leaves
colors of the sun when it tangos, the oranges and pinks it weaves
music that moves my body to sway without a thought, toes now soar
making me dizzy as I see you in the dust moving in the light on our floor

    1. This ended up in pending. All sorts of changes in WordPress. Thank you Jeff your comment is very kind and I am glad you liked that line. There are so many wonderful poets on line now, including yourself, one has to think about what one writes as it is hard not to be influenced by the lovely things I read on line. I never want to copy anyone else work even remotely. I appreciate your friendship and your support.       1. I have not seen the owlets for a few months now. I hear the parents hooting at night. It’s so dry, I think the owlets have to move on to find enough food. They have not been sticking around as long as a few years ago.

      2. Oh that is kind of sad but I understand. I like thinking of you two surrounded by generations of families. We had that Owl for a while in our yard but it moved on after a couple of years. It is sad what they are doing here Tim. They are cutting down trees all around this area and there must be twenty very large subdivision going up. They clear cut all the trees and even take all the topsoil off the land and then sell it to others. I know you cherish your land. I am happy you have that beautiful place to be with all your critters. Sending you my love Tim. Enjoy your weekend. ❤️🤗😘

      3. The bosque can’t be developed so that’s a good thing. But there’s always pressure for new housing.

  12. Oh Joni,perhaps you might expect I relate to this beautiful love poem, that which is no longer with us, yet does not go away, to die forgotten in oblivion. This line is so beautifully expressed, so lyrical, I caught my breath:
    “colors of the sun when it tangos, the oranges and pinks it weaves”
    All of the poem is a lyrical gasp, a remembering, that sweet sour mixture of loss and still being able to find “them” in their dance, their swoon, their power to affect you..still. Just so beautiful and so very relatable to me personally. Love how you write..how you feel so deeply..Much love to you..Joni❤️🤗
