sand left by doting fairies, sifting from somnolent eyes, as I awake from sleep
during the hours of words that drift between lovers, without needing to speak

I am awakening to water surrounding my bed, as mermaids with golden scales
laughing tender vocal notes with my velvet bunnies, now spinning infantile tales

their stuffing floating in the indigo waters, as a mermaid is whispering in my ear,
you must love with an active passion, or this earth may turn to dust, is our fear

she ties her bright red hair around my small waist in case I fall from my tiny bed
outside the house, water is high in the yard, as I perceive an overwhelming dread

nature cries in unison, as the old soul of a giant weeping willow senses my fears
limbs tangling as she is drowning with a million sad memories giving birth to tears

In 2018 the US had less than five percent of the world’s population, we use twenty percent of the world’s energy and we are slow to create renewable energy.

In 2021 The World Population Balance showed that if everyone in the world lived like an average person in the US we would need five earths to support our lives. That is really sad to me.       1. What you did with your book about our precious earth was a wonderful thing. Poetry is starting to really make a significant impact again. I look forward to reading it.       I am glad you liked that line. There are so many things people need to do in order to stop this problem. One of our WordPress community members Ingrid Wilson put together an anthology including many people in the community and their work – it is called the Anthropocene Hymnal. It is about the world’s climate change and biodiversity loss. It went live yesterday and is on sale on Amazon. You probably know all about it. I think that was a lovely thing for her to do.     This was very beautiful piece about our Earth and it is extremely important for many people to understand that we need to save our dear planet.

      I am grateful you liked those lines. I hope people will think about how special our beautiful earth is and how we need to protect it. I am guessing you know about Ingrid Wilson’s “The Anthropocene Hymnal which is all poems from community members about this subject. It was a wonderful thing for her to do.

      I hope your studies are going very well and that you are getting time to write. I will be checking today.

      3. Thanks a lot dear Joni. I am preparing for the medical entrance exam in India, and entrance exams here are extremely competitive. But I am glad I have such supportive parents and family who always remind me that I need to study joyfully, and not take them as a burden.
        I am so happy for Gabriela! She truly deserves all of this; she is really such a gem.

        I too am so happy for Button. She has been a mentor and so gracious and generous to me and many people. She is above petty jealousies and instead gives and gives of herself to others. I can’t wait to read her book. The last one blew me away.

  12. “Is it too late for us to truly love God and one another?” Such a poignant question. I could not help but think of Scripture. “Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets” (Matt. 22: 37-40).     1. Hi my dear friend. I am recovering from my back procedure but feeling pretty good today. I am just taking it easy.
