Going Home Down East

Jasmin twines her beguiling aroma into the woods. Lingering close to her sun-drenched petals arousing my acuities were ladybugs.  Appearing at the crepuscular hour, bunnies white, with piercing eyes ascend from their holes. They are stirring to play within the loving hours. When our breath slows, as does our hearts beating amid God’s creation, new life subsists in a blue-green world.

My essence floats by indigo waters where fairies glide on golden lily pads and mermaids glimmer with incandescent red hair. Harvesting pearls as I flow past the merpeople, sensing their pale and translucent skin, I embrace their life force. Electricity from their energy transfers to my body, and I perceive its changes. As the trees clap and sing harmonies with frogs, my pace hastens, oh how I long for you, Savannah. Passing the trees that grow hair and whose roots reach for the air, I am nearby.

The sun is rising as ginger, ruby, and buttery colors brush the sky. Scales replace pink flesh, and using my upper limbs, I reach the brownish water of the Savannah River. Disappearing into the sometimes brackish water, I splash my tail and begin my morning hymn.

  1. A wonderful and fantastical journey, Jonikins! I love your incorporation of color in your imagery. You may also want to consider including more reference to texture, pulling at the tactile senses as well as the visual. You have certainly found your stride in tour writing. Well done!

    1. Thank you so much. I have been enjoying my coffee. I have started enjoying press coffee again. I really enjoy it. Thanks truly for your kind post. Here is another use for coffee, you can put just a very small amount of a good coffee on a plate and put it in any room that doesn’t smell good, (our garage) and in two days you can’t smell a thing. Sending my love and hugs. ❤️🤗😘🌺🙏💕Joni

    1. Thank you beautiful Button. You know your words are precious to me. Sending you so much love right back. You have a beautiful Friday too. The fairies are sending kisses and they have already found the spot for your next book. They knitted a silk cover for it but I had to explain the beauty of the painting on the cover. Love you Button,
      Honeybun ❤️🤗😘🦋💕🌺🌸🌹🌷🌻
