The Floral Wall – A Collaboration

A Collaboration between Joni and Stuart Aken, Photos by Stuart. Please visit Stuart’s website for his photography and publications  –  Poem by Joni Caggiano

cracks in the old stone cry out to me
like a whimpering fairy with golden eyes
smooth the aging skin upon the river swept rocks
sweltering and charming with a parasol reflection of a red hot sun

when you rub their skin, it is soft
alike a new pup’s underbelly, so yielding
as lovers, we often lean upon her stony surface
you are the royal stem holding my maiden flower within your arms

our gait hastens as pores bleed
with a craving so intense our wrapping
a silk cocoon binding our bodies with opulent smells
consuming us entirely, we reach our field of spotted flowers, our nest

we spread our blanket with purpose
untying my corset ribbons, your breath quickens
naked I can feel the heat on my aching bosom; I crave you
like the bouquet growing mystifyingly in our stone wall without logic

beguiling me; gentle breezes brush my thighs
flowers around us sing songs of old; you map me
closing our shutters, we transform into one, yielding promises
trees still, a ladybug with her red velvet coat pauses, wrens croon of love

      1. Oh you are kind to ask Ishita. We are both well. We have been busy trying to get our home ready to sell and we are looking for a place in the mountains that is much smaller. The weather is beautiful here right now. We are happy and blessed. Thank you friend. Love you dear Ishita. 🤗❤️💕

      3. Thank you so much. It gets so
Hot anymore that I end up spending much of my time inside much
Of the year. It would be a little cooler
In the mountains. I am glad to hear your having nice weather there too. Thanks for the love ❤️ Joni

      1. I have missed you too!!
I took an unplanned break from WP. Between studies and writer’s block, it was very difficult to write something!
But I am definitely back now, and I’m so glad for that!
        Visit anytime you like Joni❤😍

      2. Oh yea, I missed you dear friend. I have been blocked as well. Sounds like I have been in good company. Sending you many blessings, lots of love and warm hugs. ❤️🤗💕

Joni was inspired by my photos to write a poem. It was an idea I loved, knowing how sensitive and atmospheric her poetry is. Here is the collaboration. Enjoy!

    1. Thank you Stuart for working with me on this project it has been fun. Your photography inspires my poetic mine often so thank you so much for that. Love ❤️ to you both. Joni

    2. Stuart I am loving your photo’s, so very unique & beautiful. I love rocks, so the flowers blooming from the cracks is incredible! Both photo’s are gorgeous & so happy Joni wrote a poem to compliment both of your works. Special treat for me!!

      1. Bless your heart my dearest friend. I heard my
Phone going and Scot said is SMJ on line. Thank you for your very gracious kindness. I knew you would love this photography my friend the photographer. I love you dear Janette. Outside being bad as I am painting. Thank you for reading. Janette let’s talk before too much longer. Sending the fairies bikinis as they love to swim in the sunshine and they can jump off your swinging earrings. Love you to pieces. 💕🤗❤️😘Joni

      2. Thank you, SMJ. Joni has been sharing and commenting on my series of photos aimed at bringing some joy in the outdoors to those people stuck inside due to Covid, and, as a result, I was introduced to her wonderful poetry. When she suggested a phot/poem collaboration it was a no-brainer. And I’m delighted with the result, as, so it seems, are a lot of others!

      3. So grateful too that we got to know each other. Thank you for your kind words Stuart. Sending love and hugs to you and Valerie. ❤️Joni

  3. Beautiful, Joni. I’m so pleased you wanted to do this, and I’m delighted by the result of our collaboration. Beautiful poetry that enhances my images. Thank you so much!

  6. Hi Joni, I am so sorry I cannot reply to your comment/like my computer says it is not a safe site, I am trying to find out why, but so far to no avail. I have consulted with WordPress and my anti-virus, Eset and they don’t know. When it is safe for my son to come to visit inside he may be able to figure it out.

    1. My husband thinks it was because one of the links didn’t have https it only had http. We even have a VPN setup. He is a computer science major. If you refresh it should work. If it says it is unsafe then don’t go in and don’t worry about it. You are the first person to say anything but I can have WordPress check from my end too. I never go into anything that says it is unsafe. I understand my friend. Thank you for the heads up. Hugs 🤗 and love Joni

      1. Almost every notification I’ve received for any WordPress site for the last 2 weeks has had an ‘unsafe’ warning, always to do with phishing, Joni and Brenda. But as I recognise the sites, I’ve been ignoring these ‘warnings’. My guess is someone somewhere has been sending out real phishing messages from a WordPress site; it may even have become included in a listserve scam that my own email was caught in because someone else included me! That’s resulted in multiple scam emails and many on this ‘list’ don’t appear to have the sense to simply delete these emails, replying to them instead and therefore perpetuating the run. That’s my take on it, but I confess I haven’t found the time to investigate.

      2. Stuart I appreciate your talking about this. It was very kind of you. I would miss Brenda but those warnings scare me too. I
haven’t got a notification like that. Scott looked and saw that we left the s off of one of the http etc. and the link still worked. He fixed it but that was all he found. We have a BPN plus our regular security so we are pretty protected. Thanks again Stuart. Sending you and Valerie love. ❤️🤗💕

      3. Joni, I don’t think it is your computer, it won’t let me go to my own WP blog on my own computer using another browser. I have talked to WP and had them research it, and my Anti Virus Eset, and both say they can’t tell why. Everyone says to clear the cache, but that does not help. Sorry hon, I can comment on your comments later in my comments section, so that will have to be okay. Have a good day and stay safe! Hugs.

      4. No worries at all. My like button only works part of the time I was also told to update my OS system and clear my cache. My like button still doesn’t work for some of my friends. Love ya ❤️🤗💕🥰

      5. So strange. Irritating. You are a gem my friend. I don’t go anywhere that says danger danger, we have poured too much of ourselves into our sites. Hope you have an amazing weekend. Love ya Brenda ❤️🤗💕

    1. Yea what a blessing. Much love to you and your lovely family. Sounds like you have some wonderful sons. Oh this too must have gone straight to pending. Love you sweetie

  7. I’m thankful I can now seem to comment and like (LOVE) these works! This poem is so visual; it makes one want to go find a field of flowers next to a river filled with old stones, and just bask in the sunlight. I particularly loved the ladybug with her velvet coat, and these photographs are amazing! Loved this from Joni and Stuart!

    1. Thank you dear Jill. I am so sorry that you have had such difficulties liking or commenting on my post. You are sweet to continue trying to do so. I am so glad you enjoyed our collaboration. Stuart is very talented as our you my friend. We will have to do one again soon. Sending lots of love. Thank you Jill. Hugs and blessings to you lovely family. ❤️🤗💕🥰
