My New Poem, “Leaving Blue Doors,” Now Live at Spillwords Press NYC

Photograph from Pexels on Pixabay – Poem by Joni Caggiano

voiceless rhythms hide conflict behind earless walls
cobblestones assembled centuries ago, bask in white light
forgotten names of flowers already seared into my raw flesh
pink and crimson colors hovering with their scent
exploding like a trap door in the tiny hairs of my nostrils
barren is his constant silence, which feels like screaming
anxiously red eyes stare, as your tall body opens the blue door
cutting chambers and bindings from my red heart
your white mesh shoes are almost silent
like the petals drifting in chilly, ethereal breaths

    1. Hi Brad you are a sweetheart. Thank you for your words. I really appreciate them. I bet you still get up really early every morning. I am guessing like 5:30 am. I should work on my discipline. I slept in till 8:30 this morning which is late. I hope things are moving along with availability of vaccinations for folks where you live. I don’t talk much on the phone much but I called an acquaintance of mine this morning who is a police woman and was surprised that she still had not been able to be vaccinated. I hope you stay safe and well my friend. Sending lots of love and hugs your way. 🤗💕❤️Joni

      1. More like 4:30 am, but who is counting? I have heard little about vaccines in my area, but I hope they become more readily available soon. Stay well and sending hugs!

      2. Thank you Brad. I knew it!! You are so productive. Yesterday when I went into your site I realized how many works of yours I have missed. Plan to do some catching up today. I know many people who were in the military and civilians who just got up early throughout their careers that can’t sleep in if the want too. It is a wonderful habit. I sleep later than I should. Thank you for the hugs. I can feel them. Southern folks are big huggers and I have missed them. Sending many back. Stay safe my friend. Love ❤️ Jonikins

  1. Oh….it’s so intense….the imagery you created….raw emotions….goosebumps….”barren is his constant silence, which feels like screaming….anxiously red eyes stare, as your tall body opens the blue door”….I’m actually speechless….sending you love dear Joni ❤️✨

    1. Thank you so much Navin as I am grateful you liked it. Your support means a lot. Hope you are doing well my friend. I am holding on to your love and sending so much back. We can’t have too much love. I hope you can feel my warm hugs too. 🤗💕❤️🌷🌷love Joni

  2. Joni, you know I do not have one poetic bone in my body, but this one made me shiver with the coldness I felt reading it. I felt the sadness of a love lost or abandoned and not kindly. You truly can write so we feel the passion. Thank you so much.

    1. Oh you are so sweet. Your words are gracious my friend.

“This one made me shiver with the coldness I felt reading it. I felt the sadness of a love lost or abandoned and not kindly.”

Such a kindness this is to me as the writer. Your support is truly appreciated and not taken for granted. You are a prolific writer and I know your time is valuable, so thank you for reading.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend and thank you for being so understanding about the link in my post being incorrect. Hope that took care of the problem. Be safe, blessed and inspired. Love ya Joni

      1. Got it thank you Brenda. I learned another new thing this morning about WordPress. I wasn’t seeing comments under notifications with my phone. I knew that I had seen a message from a good friend on WordPress but it wasn’t showing up under comments. So if I use my computer and go into my site, and then go to comments, I could see my friends kind comment. I use to hit approved on the computer and before I could respond the comment would disappear. So I never used my computer for this. Now I know that is because they immediately go from pending underneath the heading approved. Seems obvious and yet it was not registering. Glad my husband doesn’t mind helping me. Have an amazing day. 🦋🤗💕❤️😘

    1. Thank you so much for reading and your kind comment Tim it means a lot. I always like to give the photographer credit but they don’t always provide that on Pexels. I too, really found myself drawn to that photograph.
Hope y’all are having a wonderful and blessed day on the Rio Grande. Please be careful you two. Blow the owls a kiss from me. They are just the sweetest pair. What a blessing to be able to have them raise their family by y’all. We have a couple of Barred Owls that live in our yard and my husband can get them to hoot back but we don’t see them often and we get so excited when we do. Sending love, hugs and flowers for your wife. 💕❤️🌷🌺🌸🌼🌺🌷Joni

What a great compliment, thank you. Is it not incredible how intense our senses are. We were talking about that this morning. I can smell vegetable soup and still remember vividly going into the basement where as a second grader we had to go with our coats, boots and hats on for lunch. There was this program for children who couldn’t get lunch, thank goodness, and they always had vegetable soup and I remember it would smell so wonderful. It still hits me like a brick in the face when I smell vegetable soup, this was not a good time for me. I feel so blessed to have all my senses. Thank you for the very thoughtful comment my sister from “not really so far away” and know that I am sending love, warmth and happy thoughts your way. Love you

      1. Oh you are so welcome Joni. I did get that and I didn’t know that I dare ask but I could feel that raw emotoion and pain delivered and the “petal tennis shoes” actually had a ring of lightness there. Oh life takes us so many places and I’m glad you are now walking in wonderful joy and love. Oh what a beautiful memory of the vegetable soup and the aroma with those sweet adorable 2nd graders looking up at you. Awwwwww .. such a give. You are so welcome and I appreciate that yesterday and today with all the glitches were sooo stressful on Fri Yay Funday no less. I’m gonna close shop and make is Sabbath Saturday my closer in heart than distance dear friend. Thanks for the Love Joni!! ❤️ Love you so!!

      2. Happy Sabbath dear friend. That sounds like a beautiful idea. I love that in fact. Blessings, light, love and happiness coming your way, love you Cindy. You take care sweetie. 🤗💕❤️🦋🦋

    1. Thank you my friend. I am touched by your support and your kind words. Thank you so very much. Sending you lots of warm hugs. PS I am going to send your lesson on the poem to my daughter. Haiti activity is down due to violence there and Covid. I am hoping there could be some help by utilizing your skills. I am so impressed with the work you do but I can’t promise anything. I believe what your doing is not just wonderfully helpful for parents and their children but it is also very kind. You really show your versatility with your lessons also. I don’t think we value our teachers, instructors and professors nearly enough in the US.
Sending lots of inspiration and appreciation again for what you are doing.
Love to you and your loved ones. 🤗💕❤️🦋

  6. Oh….my…sigh. So intense. This broke my heart. I know that relationship. I know that feeling. Reading the first part here I saw something completely different happening. You took me to many places, very swiftly and created all sorts of emotion, very swiftly, as those sorts of unions can and do. So very well done. Perfect. Thank You, dear Joni. Sigh. ❤️❤️❤️

    1. I think most of us women have experienced some form of this feeling. It is important that women protect their hearts. Especially tender hearted women like you and I. Mama use to say, “Josie Karen, you wear your heart on your sleeve.” She was write. Love you kind Katy. 🤗💕❤️🦋😘🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️🐉🐉🐉

  7. Congratulations sweetheart. The poem is splendid. Sorry I can give it only one “heart”. I should be able to give it a thousand. Such a wonderful world colors and metaphors.
    Bravo, you rock.

    Sending love and blessings.
