Society’s Illness

Poem by Joni Caggiano 11/28/20 – Image by Ajay kumar Singh from Pixabay

dark the barred windows of my years
where horrors lay with tortured tears

did I not venture from my hoary nest
lineage now ridded of timeworn test

pestilence doth purloin love and age
veiling hearts and death in ruddy cage

inside is out, and out is within a crust
shielding the living from turning to dust

    1. Hello dearest Button, thank you so much for reading and you beautiful comment. I sent another earlier today but I don’t know if it went through. We are having internet problems so using a hotspot with another phone. I am sending prayers for fast healing, lots of love and hugs too. I also sent all my fairies to clean your home, wait on you hand and foot (literally there) so you can heal. My best baker is coming with her eleven assistance. So you will get a dozen sweet potato pies 🥧 and lots of massages too. Rest up and let my sweeties do the work they get pleasure and blessings from helping others. Love Joni ❤️🧚🏻🧚‍♀️🧚🏻🧚🏻🧚‍♀️🤗💕❤️

      1. Oh, what a beautiful answer sweetheart. Thank you for these wonderful offerings. I needed them. They are divine.
I am sorry to hear you had internet problems. Hopefully they are fixed by now. Sending you love and blessing. That’s all I can do at this point ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

      2. Thank you sweetie you just take care of you and that is gift enough for me. I will continue to pray for fast healing. I love you Button. 🤗💕❤️honeybun

    1. Hello dearest Navin I approved your lovely comment this morning and responded but we are still having internet issues so I don’t think it went out.
If you have two responses please just Ignore one. Your comment was very kind and loving. I am feeling very blessed as I have so very much to be thankful for but the state of our country and the world in quite the mess in so many areas. I am sending you love, happiness and blessings my friend. Stay safe Navin. Love to you dear Navin, Joni

      1. Dearest Joni, it’s good you’ve written this message coz I didn’t get the first one….true, there’s a lot of mess & unnecessary noise in the world….fear has become the driving factor….sending you love & warmth ✨

      2. I had a feeling I needed to send them out again. So glad I did. Yes there is so much noise. Thanks dear Navin sending you love back. ❤️💕

    1. Dearest Francisco all the comments I sent this morning are no longer marked liked and approved. We have had internet problems. So if this is the second comment I would rather seen two then none. Thank you so much for reading and commenting kind friend. I really appreciate your support and friendship always. We feel so blessed and grateful for being together during these crazy times. However we are being careful and staying close to home. I am praying for those alone as it must be difficult. I can’t imagine. You two stay blessed, safe and blessed too. I sent you gardenias, my favorite flowers but in case they didn’t make it, I am sending them again. Your wife can wear them behind her hair and you can both enjoy their amazing fragrance in the most loving way. 🤗💕❤️Joni

      1. Thank you so much Joni, my wife will love them, that is so thoughtful. We wish you both the same, health and wellbeing and many, many blessings. Much love to you from Spain and always,
        Francisco

    1. Thank you my friend. I appreciate your very kind words. Your reading about the way I feel the sorrow for our world. Thank you my dear friend and please give Valerie a hug for me. Hope you two are having a great start for the new week. 🤗💕❤️🦋Joni

    1. Thank you my friend. I really appreciate your extremely kind words. How very thoughtful of you. You be careful too. I think it is important for all of us. I was sick for ten days with a flu. I was tested because I was getting well and it was negative. So I know I don’t want this virus. Sending you bunches of love. I have a lot of reading to do. I don’t know about you but I tried to stay off my electronics for this past weekend. Sending lots of hugs for your sweet friendship. Love ❤️ Joni

      1. You are so welcome Joni and sooo sorry you have been so sick. Glad you are on the mend and it wasn’t Covid!!!!! take good care.. I have been enjoying the holiday, low key and scheduled out a bunch of posts which is sooo awesome to free me up some.. You take care and lots of love.. I’m hopefully caught up here but never know for sure.. lol. and never get to read much else. xoxoxoxo love and hugs. ❤️🤗🤗❤️ Cindy

  2. WHile reading I thought….I get this….then I realized….no….I don’t. Though we can recognize one’s pain(s) I have long been teaching myself I do not ‘know’ another’s pain. This was strong Joni. So strong.

    1. Thank you so much for your kindness in both reading and commenting. Thank you also for sharing. I think everyone has their own pain and we all have struggles. This is a piece where I took childhood pain and combined it with what is happening now in our world. There are likely people that are suffering so much and we won’t likely know the extremes of that pain for a decade.
Sending love, and blessings to you my friend. 💕❤️ love Joni

  3. Hi Joni
I finally gotta know u r fine and just having internet issues. I have been wondering abt ur absence and well-being. Read d poem just now. Well, wat can i say? Wish i cld write like this! But since i can’t, i am sending warm hugs and compliments to u. Wowsome writing 🙂

    1. How very kind of you my friend. Your comment has truly touched my heart deeply. Thank you so much also for being worried about me, what a blessing. They changed our modem yesterday, which they said was no good. So that was a blessing. I was sick for ten days with a bad upper respiratory flu which I confirmed was not COVID by getting a free test along with my husband.

I have to work on my writing when I can because it does not just flow out of me, like with some writers. I think it takes work for most of all and I have my mentors on wordpress that I try and learn from. I appreciate you loving words and they have made me smile as I work hard. I love writing and I hope that you will just keep working like I do and try not to compare yourself too much with others. Everyone has the own style and I am sure there are lots of people that don’t like my writing as the statistics show that in WordPress. You can get a hundred and twenty visits and only sixty likes for example. I don’t let that keep me from working on my style, my use of metaphors and imagery. It just takes time and keep in mind I am highly critical of my own work, so perhaps that is what you are doing too. We write because it is something we feel compelled to do. For me I feel like God has helped me deal with my life through my writing. I am sending you much love, hugs and prayers that you will keep writing and remember we write for ourselves first. Love you, Joni xoxoxo

      1. Truer words were not spoken. You understand me so well. Yes, I write because I like it. It gives me joy so yes, to that extent it’s a selfish joy but what the heck! We gotta make our hearts happy, what say, my friend? Glad to hear that u r recovering. I thought that u must be busy with ur extended family and holidays round he corner. I waited patiently for a few days ; them my patience ran out and I decided to crawl ur blog only to find out abt internet issues.
A few likes make me happy but i i don’t wait for them. I have a quiet confidence that my blog has good stuff. And when a friend drops a compliment, it makes all me efforts worth my while.
        Loads of love and hugs
Don’t forget some hot soup and keep warm.

      2. Oh you are a thoughtful soul. I am doing well now. Staying inside except for an occasional walk in the sunshine. I sent this last lesson to my daughter just now with a note about Haiti and their nanny. There was a lot of violence in Haiti recently so the people they hire from Haiti are just working hard without the US team as it has been too dangerous. It is such a kind thing that you are doing. Love ❤️ Joni 🤗

      3. Thank you so much.
I didn’t know about the violence in Haiti. The world has become a violent place and one is never sure about tomorrow. Hope your family is safe.

      4. They are. Thank you. They go often and work hard alongside the villagers planting vegetables and reforestation and many other projects but right now they have been staying in the states. Too dangerous to travel. Sending love. ❤️💕Joni

    1. Tiffany I can’t thank you enough for you kind and gracious words. I am grateful for your reading and commenting on my post.

Sending you loves, hugs and marshmallows covered in chocolates made by fairies. When you taste them you too will be able to fly as well. Love you ❤️💕Joni

  4. These are strange and difficult times. I wonder what those who lived through the Black Death would think of them. Of course, darkness comes in many forms. Thank you for giving voice to the horrors that once lay with tortured tears, Joni. May the God who brought you through past trials, keep you and your loved ones once again safe. Love, A. <3 <3 <3

    1. Thank you dear Anna I pray the same for you as well. I always appreciate your love and support.
Please be careful and yes I pray for protection as I feel all is possible with God’s loving and protecting arms. 😘🤗💕❤️🦋 love you Joni

    1. Thank you so much sweet Katy. You are such a sweet heart. I am sending you lots of love, hugs and happiness. You will find them tied with silk threads spun by the silk worm 🐛 early this morning. Treasures of love for both of you and of course for the dragons 🐉 there are kisses hanging all over the island for them. Thanks for making my morning sweet Katy. Love ya 🦋🤗💕❤️🐉🐉

      1. WOWOWOW!!! It’s my absolute pleasure, dear Joni!!! And Thank You!!! Now that’s a wonderful offering to start the day with! You just gifted a HUGE smile. In turn the dragons and I bopped Your way and hung shimmering, tinkling fairy bells of laughter all through the trees where Y’all live…they rain down kisses and blissful states of just Being. Love You back!!! 💖🧚🏽😃

      2. I knew I was hearing bells and small but crisp little voices all day. Oh and I was in a blissful state yesterday. That explains it my friend. What a precious gift. Thank you and lots of love.
        🤗💕❤️🦋😘

  5. An Incredible and fierce composition! Pain has a language of its own. And, your ability to communicate any dialect of it, with others, is a gift. Wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas adorned with perfect Heavenly love! 🍮🍮🥂🌺💕🍂🍮🍮🥂Cheers!

    1. Thank you so much my friend. By the way if you have sent me comments that we’re not answered it is because I didn’t see them. I found 25 unanswered comments on my computer which I never saw on my reader. So please forgive me. My like button isn’t working right either. I have to download the latest version of OS for Mac. They were very kind but admitted that they were having lots of trouble with the like button. Have a wonderful holiday my friend. I am so grateful to be your friend. Sending lots of love and hugs. 🤗💕❤️♥️♥️🌲🌲♥️
