binding myself in utter nakedness to your trunk
colors calling to me like the flute upon your lips
ancient maple oozing sap now clinging to my arms
amid my breast, it falls, saturating my fiery blood
divulging her centuries of secrets, we both weep
fires, poison fumes, and humans create her sorrow
last, in this primal forest, for the others are now gone
I will become this year’s light ring as you and I are one

    1. Thank you my friend. I have a real thing about trees. I just think they are such beautiful creations. I hope we learn to take better care of them. There is a 2600 year old cypress not far from were we live in NC. Such a cool tree to study about. Have an amazing weekend my friend. Love to you and your loved ones. ❤️Joni

      1. ❤️ I love your heart Joni. I have to tell you….I hug trees that I come close to. I hugged the Angel Tree and breathed into it. I mean, they need our air and we need theirs. Whenever I come across and old tree I breathe into it imagining my breath mingling with the breath of hundreds and thousands of years of people who interacted with that tree. And the spirit of the tree….I believe in that. I wrote a little book called The Sentinel (I will send you a digital copy if you are comfortable sharing an email). 🙂

      2. Thank you my friend you all ways make me smile. I imagine you, a tender hearted soul on an island surrounded by your clapping and talking trees and many mystical creatures. I can imagine you siping iced tea and painting in the sun. It makes me smile. I received the dragon kisses which tickled my cheeks and of course melted and the lady bugs are in the living room having coffee ☕️ with me and my honey. So thank you dearest Katy.
