Plea for Grace

Open is my pounding heart as raw emotions; I do so often share
Stunned by your compassion, God, for our love, hope, and prayer
Intense your light, as on my knees Lord, You often find me there

Like David to Goliath, Paul to Nero, and John in a pot of boiling oil,
If just a trace of their faith had I, to preach, suffer and to daily toil
Or to feel the vast loss, of Job, or suffer the intense pain of one boil

Oh my God, my Savior, our blessed Jesus, I pray You hear my plea
I know my Lord you gave a command and parted the great Red Sea
Forgive me Lord; humbly I pray from this enemy, please set us free

From my worldly ways, lack of love for our earth and every single sin
Things that I should have done but did not do, and places I have been
I pray this sickness will be destroyed, if in your will, and we all will win

The fight for mother earth, your word, salvation, and your eternal love
In my sorrow, dear Lord, You kept me alive in my youth, alike a dove
Praying to see the trees speak, and to touch my friend without a glove

  1. A poignant and powerful piece, Joni! I love the form and rhyme scheme. It is deeply personal and resonates with your heart-felt beliefs and hopes. It is beautifully written and shares an opportunity for others to find their hope, faith, and truth. One of your best! Love to you!

    1. Dearest Brad, thank you so much for your kind words. They have real special meaning to me. It is always hard for me to write about my faith, I never think anything I write is good enough to post, when I am talking about God. So your kind words mean so very much this morning. Also, thank you for your comment about the form and rhyme scheme. This style is more your area of expertise, Brad, so quite a compliment. You just made my morning Brad, thank you. Have a wonderful weekend my friend. Sending you lots of hugs, love and flowers for starting my day so nicely. Love Joni

  2. What a beautiful prayer Joni. One should be on her/his knees when reading it. No words can describe the beauty and the sanctity of your prayer. Thank you for giving. Thank you for being you.

    1. Oh thank you Button. I appreciate your kind words. I never really feel worthy to write about God but then I think about Mary and Jesus and forgiveness through His blood and sacrifice and I do my best.

I am so glad God connected us to each other. I don’t really believe in coincidence. So I am very grateful for you beautiful Button. Yours honeybun ❤️💕🌺🌸
