Wisdom From Heartache

Poem written by Joni Caggiano on 07/16/20 – Beautiful Painting, a big thank you to Will Hendrik

the in-between time held out her hand and offered hope
whispering my name through her honey and lavender breath
hovering beside her were hummingbirds and white doves
joyfulness bled blue, my heartbeats held in a glass treasure box
hanging from silk threads, like cotton candy, around her long neck
taking her hand, she flew me into the realm of the great oaks of my youth
she sang glorious, floating notes, with closed lips, as I saw myself below
a sad child besieged with grief, eating a dirt cake, and talking to an old doll
weeping willows underneath us were drowning in their own tears of sorrow
shadows of myself growing up on that sandy land spread before me now
crying sorrowfully, she wiped my tender tears with her massive wing
and thrust them with unrivaled strength into the vastness of the sky
everywhere they rested, a star was born in the vast, cobalt, blue universe
adversity is born to us for wisdom, and so we will cling to our blessings
colors of the sunrise were emerging, so she flew me back to my warm bed
the in-between time is closing, “but don’t forget a single word I’ve said”

    1. You are just so kind to me my friend. Thank you John for all your kindness and lovely support. Sending love, hugs and fresh blueberry muffins. 🤗❤️💕

      1. I wish I could share one with you and a great cup of coffee and as we say in the South “we could sit down awhile and chew the fat.” We could swap stores that would be fun. Have a blessed night dear friend. Love y’all 💕❤️Joni

  1. Your words touches my heart, Joni.
    Such a beautiful poem.
“Adversity is born to us for wisdom, and so we will cling to our blessings”.
Loved those words. So beautifully penned.
    Thanks for sharing, Joni. ❤

    1. Thank you my friend. God tells us to basically be appreciative of our hardships. I really try to do this even when it is very hard. 2nd Corinthians chapter 12, verse 8 “Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. “. This is God talking to Paul, When Paul is talking about the thorn in his flesh and he is asking God to take it away. I love this verse. Have a blessed evening my friend. Love 💕 Joni

      1. You are so welcome but you got the message out. Spreading God’s work in helpful tips. Bravo to you. Seriously. ❤️💕

  2. Beautiful words. A creative way to paint an encounter with an Angel in a dream, clearly ignititing memories of the past and wisdom gained. I love it. Hope you’ve been well.

    1. Oh dearest Ishita you say the kindest things about my writing. It touches me profoundly. Thank you for the beautiful exotic flowers and all your truly gracious words.

This poem is very personal dear friend. It is about how my childhood which was very painful was God’s way of preparing me for the beauty and love I would experience some day. Also to teach me to cherish the goodness he blessed me with so often. The stars are gifts I have already received in my life. The angel was God watching over me during those dangerous years as a child. I hope this explains what the poem means to me but each poem is different for everyone.

Sending love back to you my sweet friend and gardenias. I love you too my friend. Sending hugs and blessings. Joni ❤️💕🌸🌺

      1. You deserve it my friend❣😘 It is absolutely my pleasure💖

This explains the meaning of the poem Joni, definitely does. And yes, sometimes we cannot asses it but even when God gives us pain, and harsh experiences, it is for a reason. A reason we get to know about later. Yes, every poem is different for everyone. I didn’t know your painful childhood and the learning from it was the basis of this piece. But I think, the message of learning from pain, and the “wisdom from heartache” was evident and touched my heart♥️♥️♥️

Thank you for the beautiful gardenias, they are lovely🌸🌸
        xoxo
        Ishita 💞

      2. Thanks my friend. I so agree that every poem has a different meaning to each reader. I am extremely intuitive so some times I can figure out a poem but often I have my own interpretation. I think that is one of the biggest blessings of reading beautifully poetry. I am glad you liked the gardenias. I use to wear them behind my ear in my hair when I was in my teens. You are a sweet soul Ishita, I feel so blessed to know you. Love you ❤️💕Joni

      3. I totally agree!! The very fact that different people have different interpretations of the same poem, is just so fascinating and beautiful🤩

  7. This is just so hauntingly beautiful Joni. On the night I first went to AA I had an experience of being held by angels it was so powerful.. so this really resonated with me but the way you expressed it is out of this world.. and I had that image on a card once too, it as lovely to see it again. Lots of love <3

    1. Thank you my friend for the truly lovely comment, it is appreciated. What a wonderful experience for you to share. Thank you for that. I think when we are at our most vulnerable, that this is when we are likely to see angels. I am so glad you had such an amazing experience. I feel in love with that picture of that angel as soon as I saw it. Glad you liked it too. Lots of love to you as well. Stay safe my friend. Joni
