The Marriage Seed

(reading time 1 minute 9 seconds)

Closing my eyes, I hear the feverish pitch of your heart while my skin senses the earth, which discriminatingly recites her poetry in unison with the sun.  My fingertips feel the pressure of garden seeds pushing dark, damp soil as roots grow downward.  Your smell penetrates my nostrils, leaving a trail of nutty aromas.  Routine is the knocking sound of the Red-bellied woodpecker, as he seeks beetle larvae underneath the willow oaks, old, dry skin.

Tapping your strong leg underneath my weight, I feel your rhythm giving birth to our dance. Your hand strokes my hair, giving way to a frail path of magnolia oil.  Nearby, I hear the trill of the Blue Jay as my lips part, wetting them with my tongue, as I wait.
Expectations of your smooth mouth on mine send quivers through me, and past the soft, velvety moss below.  Our sounds are vibrations to the underbelly of the planet.

Sunbeams caress my skin, as its heat nibbles at my fragile shell, causing blood vessels to swell.  You are the earthly string that binds my heart and flesh.  Grounded by your ferocity and overwhelming love, my small pores release their song in quarter notes. You play my strings with the gentleness of a hummingbird feeding her newborn in the nest nearby.  Faint is the whisper of the breeze cooling the sweat, which rolls smoothly between my breasts.

Safe like a babe engulfed in her mother’s womb, I sense our singleness with the earth.  We are one body yoked equally in Your Eyes, My Lord.  Our heartbeats become one, and my tear ducts release to shed drops of thankfulness.  Rooted in our love, we are the marriage seed growing and blooming in Your earth.

    1. Thank you so very much my friend. Marriage is such a blessing from God when you are equally yoked and both share faith in Our Father and His Son. I feel so grateful for so many blessings from God but my marriage to my best friend is a true gift. I sure hope you and all your family are doing well my friend and that you are in a peaceful place. Sending love, hugs and blessings to you. ❤️💕🤗 Joni

    1. Thank you my friend. I wish I could take credit for those photos. It doesn’t always give the names of the photographers on the free pics with WordPress. They are so sweet aren’t they. It was nice to have time today to spend sometime with you and your land and amazing photography and music my friend. Love to you and Your wife. ❤️💕Joni

  1. Marriage is a special gift from God especially if you have been gifted with a good partner. Your words fill the imagination so well intertwining it with the bonds of Mother Earth.

    1. Oh thank you dear friend, what a very kind and introspective look at the meaning. You certainly got the poem. Ephesians Chapter Five verses 22 and to the end of the chapter talks about how we should love each other as Christ loved the church. It is a great meaning about a couple married in faith. Thank you for reading and always commenting. My marriage to my best friend is such a blessing in my life. Thank you, seriously for your thoughtful words they really mean a lot. Hope you and all your loved ones are well and that you have a safe 4th. Love and hugs 🤗 Joni

  4. Joni, this piece is so wonderful. The sense of connectedness – of earth, mind, body, spirit, nature, is transcendental. Reading it is a spiritual experience.

“You are the earthly string that binds my heart and flesh. Grounded by your ferocity and overwhelming love, my small pores release their song in quarter notes. You play my strings with the gentleness of a hummingbird feeding her newborn in the nest nearby.”

I know that is a long passage to quote but I love every sentence of it. There is such unity and harmony and togetherness. Ferocity and tenderness.

The strength of your spirit and magnificence was a writer, glows in this piece.

Sending you a big hug dear Joni, love, rachel 💜🧡❤️
