Absent

long red hair hangs wet, on her firm, damp thighs
intense is the coconut scent,
from red orchids, given as absent reminders
silence, like heavy rain, falling on yielding green leas
gold hearts dangle from sensitive lobes, a gift – a curse
tears engulf the room, as soft petals float in milky dreams
her passion, burning holes in sheets still warm
no one stays, she muses as she lets her near naked body drift
underwater, where her heart slows, and the yearning stills

  1. “Her passion burns holes in sheets still warm” I loved this one so much. Evoking such imagery! That’s what I love about your poems the most – the imagery they can create through words. So, so beautiful. I picture this being read by James Earl Jones as the lead in to a serious romantic drama movie….love everything about it!

    1. Oh thank you dear friend. That is very kind and flattering. I am so glad you liked it. I love James Earl Jones’s voice. Wow thank you dear friend. Have a blessed day and love to your sweet family. Joni

    1. Dear Rachel I am happy reading your kind words first thing this morning. “I love the fullness of the imagery and the lyricality of the words”. Thank you so much. I am always delighted when you enjoy something I write.

I hope that you are well my friend and that your life is somewhat normal again. Such strange times.

I appreciate the love and sending some back to you with hugs and fresh flowers 🌸🌸🤗🤗 love Joni

      1. You write so beautifully, I never fail to enjoy your poetry Joni. And I agree, strange times. Things are more or less back to normal here (I live in NZ), although a lot of people’s lives have been very affected with job losses etc and international borders remain closed. I appreciate the flowers and send some back
        🌷🌷🌷

      2. You live in a very beautiful Country Rachel. I am glad things are back to normal. Thank you for your kind words and support. I am appreciating the flowers very much. Have a wonderful evening my friend. Love 💕 Joni

  4. It is so refreshing to read your poems Joni & all the positive feedback. It is so good for our minds to read something healthy & not just read about the uncertain times we are in. It feels nice to take a break from the stress we all face & embrace your poems & photos. Thank you

    1. Thank you dear friend. I am so grateful for your kind words and support as always dear friend. You know it is strange – I have lived in this house longer than I have ever lived anywhere else and you are my longest friendship as well. Never really staying long enough to keep friendships going but boy we sure have. That is such a treasure to me. Love you Janette and thanks for always supporting my efforts to become a good writer and poet. Love ❤️ to your honey as well. ❤️💕🧚‍♀️Joni
