Las Montañas De Ella

Frozen tears surround her as she slips
Dirt sets up home on a wounded knee
Her tongue loose from drink, she trips
Lost in the dark, she longs for the sea

Broken wineglass, slivers marked in red
She sees in circles, memories to be born
Hearts pilfered, tiptoe among the dead
Female shadows, broken as they mourn

Faces like the pattern on her dress, faded
Tired, she climbs on God’s mountain range
Sorrow never sleeps for those loners jaded
Dreams of beauty are her hallowed change

Colors smeared on dated sheets with cost
Youth like ribbons on playful dresses bore
Her love stolen, hence she wore the loss
Like the mountains ache to see the shore

When I read that I choked. This piece is so full of pain and longing. It comes from the past and it lives in the present. You are a terrific writer. Please don’t ever doubt yourself.
You brought me to my knees.
    Excellent.
    Sending you plenty of love
