God’s Mercy

Shadows of God’s grace inching quietly over His lands
Drifting like silk, or the forming of dunes with white sands

Relaxing, the sparkling brook, stirred and merrily smiled
In Haiti, a once innocent mission worker sees a hungry child

Upon a dying young man, lay the calming glove of a nurse
Our Lords’ words memorized sitting close; she shares a verse

Flowers give birth to blossoms, to ornament Our God’s trail
Children laugh as they share kisses while paper boats set sail

Grey whales frolic in brackish water flying into the blue skies
Offering a breast to her newborn, he accepts, a mother sighs

Somewhere a poet expresses her arcane feelings in a rhyme
Three fledglings develop tiny wings to find food just in time

Prayers written in tears and those in bubbles of bliss rise high
Our Savior hears and answers all, as angel wings do gently fly

A husband reaches for her hand in the dark, I love you, my wife
Squeezing his hand tightly she is thanking God for a blessed life

Sleeping soundly, ticking the usual beats per each hour is the clock
While Jesus Our Lord keeps watching over the world’s growing flock

What a splendid poem Joni. Atmospheric. Metaphors woven skillfully: a river of blessings flowing through them. You are such a talent sweetheart. May you be loved and happy forever.

  3. Joni this is one of the most beautiful poems I’ve read lately, most certainly one of your most beautiful and that is saying a lot! I have been to Haiti several times and there is a great need there. I salute your work and honour your dedication. God bless you and your husband and stay safe. I have greatly enjoyed reading your poem as I do always…
    All the best to you,
Love and peace, health and wellbeing. Take good care,
    Francisco

    1. You certainly have just made my day Francisco. “One of the most beautiful poems I’ve read lately”. That is very kind of you and humbling as well. I am glad to hear you have been to Haiti. I have seen some horrible things there. It is such a blessing to serve there. It was a wonderful experience each visit I went on. My favorite trip was getting 30 wedding dresses donated in the states and being able to wash the feet of all the women and give them pedicures and matching manicures. I also helped with their makeup. They had such a wonderful time. The foundation I go with is totally self funded. So they don’t take any donations. Thank you Francisco for reading and commenting on my work it touches my heart deeply.
I wish you all the best as well and please stay safe. Love and hugs Joni ❤️
