Zero

Silence broken by gentle breezes
Honeysuckle fragrance teases
Green anoles behind vines chase
Golden yellow a path birds trace
Hedgehog slug when angry leaves
I sing now to the clapping of our trees

Tiny wren chicks in an ample nest
Large voice put to the warbling test
Willow oaks from acorns buried grow
Squirrels hide them from their many foe
Small boy with asthma jumps and plays
Air quality zero, he has felt joy for days

      1. My apologies, I didn’t see this comment until just now. I chatted with an accommodating person on WordPress for about an hour to understand how I could be missing comments.

I found out today that WordPress limits the number of notifications you can have (a relatively small amount that’s not configurable). If I don’t respond to comments quickly (which includes new posts on every site I follow), it is likely to drop off. This means I won’t see a comment at all, as I have reached my limit, and the comment drops off.

I should be able to bypass this limitation by checking the comment section of my WordPress account on the computer many times a day. Please accept my apology, and I sincerely hope you have a blessed and fantastic day!

      2. Thank you for your recognition and kindness my friend. Congrats on your nomination. You are right about the community it is a welcoming and supportive group. Love, hugs and blessings. Joni 🌺🌸😘❤️

  1. One thing about this pandemic, I think it’s causing the planet to heal a little from the damage humans continue to inflict, and nature has become more revealing in the process. Unfortunately, the real virus/pandemic is humans on our planet, and all for the pursuit of money and comfort, which will eventually assure our mutual destruction. That’s why I see God’s hand in all this, and hopeful this pandemic can help us to see that a little more clearly.

Beautiful imagery, as always in your beautiful writing – thanks for sharing!

    1. Thank you my kind friend. Your words mean a lot to me. I also agree with your comments. God is involved in everything in my life and in our world I believe. There are lessons here to be learned that I feel certain of and hope each of us learn something from this pandemic. Thank you as always for your visits and comments. Love 💕 Joni

    1. Hi, thank you Brad for your kind and very appreciated words. Is it me or are people posting twice as much, I can’t seem to keep up with reading, commenting and my own writing. I read a fascinating piece about the history of plagues I am about to repost it was so interesting. Are you finding it difficult to keep up? I see you have written something I haven’t read yet this afternoon. Just about to get to it. I always enjoy your work. Stay safe too. Love and blessings. Joni 💕🌺🌸

      1. I post once every day, but I do think things have picked up a bit. I, too, struggle to stay up to speed on all the writers and artists I follow. Luckily, I seem to have a lot of time in a day right now. Stay safe and well! ❤💕💖

      2. You too, it must take a long time to do a post like today. That was really nicely done. Thank you always for your support as well my friend. Stay safe. Love Joni

  2. Thank you Joni beautiful words on our changing planet. The Wren they have powerful voices for one so small, and to know the rate of asthma is decreasing with the cleansing. We have to go back to a better world.

    1. Amen. We really do need to change our ways especially in the Western World. Thank you for your kind words my friend. So funny too because I was just outside and my husband and I got to see the tiny babies take flight into the woods. It made me feel such joy. Love you bunches. Joni. ( stay safe )

    1. Oh, thank you so much Button I just saw this comment. I appreciate your sweet words so much Gabriella. They humble me always and thank you for understanding the message. Yes, I so wish we could all just take care of our beautiful world. We really work hard to do all the things we can. We are so grateful for all the beautiful things God made and continues to make. We got to watch the baby Wrens fly away today from their nest. They were so tiny as they eventually made it to the woods behind the house. It was so exciting, I wish you could have seen it Button. Please take care of yourself, I know you are extremely busy. Love you Button (honeybun)
