The Taste of You

You found me in my twilight dreams
Even in death, you pursue my rawness
Concrete flooding my reposing portals
Seeking to preserve innocence
Back in the rustic hay barn, we sneak
Kentucky – sweet, warm earth and catfish
Crawdads in streams where I drink
Divvying up hushpuppies in honey butter
Musky smells rousing my dulled senses
Aching, spilling blood on thriving moss
My pores open to inhale your scents
Lips parting like silk gardenia petals
Oh, the feverish taste of you, I hunger
Pain dives inward for an appetite
Where buckets own no underbelly

      1. Hi my dear friend yes that is a sweet comment from Debby. Thanks for your comments. Hope all is well with you Janette. I hope you are staying healthy and well. Love, and hugs my dear buddy. I sure miss you. Sending you flowers, love and prayers. Joni. 🌸🌸🌺💕❤️🤗🙏

  1. Good morning Joni! It is such a delight to read your beautiful, passionate and powerful poetry. This one is fantastic! Loved it, the precise words, the imagery, the intensity of the verses…lovely, quite lovely indeed. Take good care, you and your husband. Love and well wishes and a positive frame of mind I send you both from Spain,
    Francisco

    1. Again, a simply beautiful comment not responded too. I am so sorry Francisco, please again accept my apology. I have worked hard on this all day, so hopefully everyone that was ignore will understand that it was just my lack of knowledge about comments and 2.8K is my limit after two days. Love to you both again and thank you for the extremely kind comment my friend. Your support is precious to me. Joni

My apologies, I didn’t see this comment until just now. I chatted with an accommodating person on WordPress for about an hour to understand how I could be missing comments.

I found out today that WordPress limits the number of notifications you can have (a relatively small amount that’s not configurable). If I don’t respond to comments quickly (which includes new posts on every site I follow), it is likely to drop off. This means I won’t see a comment at all, as I have reached my limit, and the comment drops off.

I should be able to bypass this limitation by checking the comment section of my WordPress account on the computer many times a day. Please accept my apology, and I sincerely hope you have a blessed and fantastic day!

      1. Don’t worry Joni, I know your heart and replies are not important as long as you know how your lovely poems touch us and beautify our lives. Love and peace to you both from Spain 🇪🇸

      2. Thank you so much. You have a sweet heart my friend. Thank you so much for understanding. You and your wife have an amazing day with lots of love and some adventure thrown in for good measure. Love to you both. Sending gratefulness to have met you two. I bet you have the sweetest wife who encourages you and your many gifts. I don’t know what I would do without my husband’s support. Hugs all around. 🤗🤗❤️💕Joni
