A Day Adrift

Gentle winds weep as gusts carry toilsome burdens swiftly along
Mermaids, fairies, and whales join in this hauntingly woeful song
Old legs holding up sorrowful eyes cry blood upon the empty street
Rusted iron table, only one chair left where her friends would meet
Heavy skies release a burden and clouds bring forth a dense rain
Covering porch swings, hobby horses, toy cars cleansing vast pain
Rain smells of jasmine, lavender, honeysuckle, and the huge pine
Washing heavy yellow pollen off surfaces to assure seedlings in time
Tenderly sparrows are driven to face the world alone from their nest
The elderly lady brings tea to her old table praying softly for a guest

      Music transports me to another place. I close my eyes and the words flow.

      Yet when I force something that doesn’t want to be written (something I have been working on for days) just can’t be pushed.

      Yes, I would like to concur with the gist of the Gabriela’s comment. You are indeed an astute observer and perceptive poet, Joni. 🙂 In particular, I really appreciate the sentiment and your observations of various happenings in Nature. Well done!

      There are a couple of things in your rhyming poem about which I have noticed:

      (1) The poem comprises one ten-line stanza rather than five two-line stanzas.

      (2) The partial(ly adrift) rhyming of the words “pine” and “time”.

      In any case, the photo of the beautiful garden is lovely. I wonder whose garden it is.

      Like you, I also like the inspiring music of John Williams and the voice of Lisa Gerard.

Please forgive this late response I have tried to explain below what has been happening to my comments based on information from a WordPress chat for over an hour. I hope I understand now. I did not know that comment can just drop off the notification bell on my phone after so long. I have like 2.8K comments and I have met my limit. Your response was so sweet and helpful. You are obviously a very talented musician and have worked with some amazing people. Just know, please that I would never ignore a single comment. I have tried to explain as best I can below what happened.

        My apologies, I didn’t see this comment until just now. I chatted with an accommodating person on WordPress for about an hour to understand how I could be missing comments.

        I found out today that WordPress limits the number of notifications you can have (a relatively small amount that’s not configurable). If I don’t respond to comments quickly (which includes new posts on every site I follow), it is likely to drop off. This means I won’t see a comment at all, as I have reached my limit, and the comment drops off.

        I should be able to bypass this limitation by checking the comment section of my WordPress account on the computer many times a day. Please accept my apology, and I sincerely hope you have a blessed and fantastic day!

      11. They are probably very busy. I don’t understand how this happened and I won’t even know how many comments that were completely dropped. The people I have chatted with have always been so super kind and helpful. I still don’t understand the storage issue. Now I will have to look throughout the day.
