Nocturnal Submission

Watching from an elevated expanse with my painted face, hair catching final sunbeams
Wistful my disposition as muscular mermen blow their horns skillfully calling out to dusk
Colors of cerulean, olive and violet shine as their fierce torsos illume within God’s light
Moments linger as I hungrily wait to cast off the fabric which lay weight upon this night

My yearning whispers to those who embrace the waters of my heart, my breast, the sea
Ambling toward the smell of fresh life awaiting to grasp me into the waves and breeze
Shedding my dyed and procured covers I slip with ease into her arms serenely to now go
Scales liberate my fin as deep into the root of life I move within her haunting ebb and flow

Thick and scarlet my hair flows freely about my hips as my mantra calls to those waiting
A pod of Belugas joins my flight of freedom united as one body, a fluid ballet of grace and song
Deeper we journey to realms unknown to humans, coral fluoresce with flames of color bright
Guiding my song my body begins to create ripples as my tail shimmers painting the night

  1. Beautiful Joni! Such images of travelling with belugas, the coral, places unknown to humans…you have such talent! I truly admire your work, your artistic sensibilities and temperament that takes your eyes to places and from there you create art. Lovely photograph! Have a lovely Saturday night Joni,
    with love from Spain,
    Francisco

    1. So grateful you liked it Francisco. You humble me. Your words mean so much. Thank you so kindly my friend for reading and sharing your thoughts. They make my day. With love to you from NC. 😘😘 Be blessed this weekend Francisco.

  2. Exquisite, Joni, and complements the fountain beautifully. Is this park somewhere in the Deep South? My hometown, Pensacola, had a similar fountain in Plaza de Ferdinando. When I was a small child, Mother used to take me walking through the park after we’d finished shopping. Daddy’s law office was in one of the buildings surrounding the park, and I like to imagine he’d wave to us from his upper story window.

    1. Oh thank you so much for your sweet comments, they mean so much. I am glad that it reminded you of a lovely memory of your mom and dad as well. Sounds so nice. I hope you have a truly blessed Sabbath and thanks for blessing my evening. Love 💕 and hugs your friend Joni

    1. Oh I am so grateful. You are very kind and gracious with your words. When I was little growing up I felt peaceful when I would just cover my body in the waters of my Aunts pond. I truly hope you have a blessed Sabbath and an amazing and blessed week coming up. Take time for yourself, we all need it. Love you Joni 🥰🥰

    1. Well you have certainly made my day dear sweet Gabriela. I am so humbled by such kind words. Kind of strange we were both reading and commenting on each other’s work at the same time. You have an incredible day today and spoil yourself. Love to you my friend. 😘❤️

    1. Thank you dear Anna for reading. We have been in the mountains and I have been off line most of the time. I appreciate your sweet and most kind words so much. Please be safe, healthy and blessed. Love you dearest Anna. Sending you lots of love my friend. Joni

  4. Gorgeous Joni..I have been catching up on some of your latest but comments seem to be turned off, and I saw this one from 2020. I love this one, the description, the colors and the title.. as you submit to those cerulean depths. In the virtual, I have done this..I have been the mermaid, felt the water tickle my scales and swum freely among oysters and coral beds.. This whole mood your poetic description of this submission to the Sea is just so gorgeous and you write as if you have led this double life…forever:) Love and all the very best always, Karima

    1. You are such a sweetheart Karima. I saw you swim in the waters. I loved that movie. You are so right I have been finding peace in my emotions and imagination as early as I remember. I have been cutting off my comments because I am visiting family in Washington state. I haven’t seen everybody in so long and I’ve just been busy with a lot of other things also got to see my fairy dearest friend. Thank you for these very kind comments they mean a lot to me you’re very gracious and I love your work. Have a wonderful day love and all the best always, Joni🧜🏻‍♂️🧜‍♀️🧜‍♀️

      2. I know it’s strange isn’t it, a big part of my world is talking to people online so I love the comments. I feel like I’m talking to my friends. But I’ve been so busy I haven’t really thought that should be my priority right now this is very blessed and appreciated time. Just glad people are reading my poetry anyway. Sending my love thank you bless you and send my love 😘🥰🌹
