Scorched Earth

Drifting in and out through the crying blackened bush
Restricting airflow from seeking lung cells that push
Towards pockets of coolness and a nontoxic time
To a land where the killing of nature is a real crime
Where bullets and hatred don’t govern the day
And children with asthma come out safely to play

An environment where oodles of patents for robotic bees
Supposedly diminish our farmers’ anxiety to put them at ease
Cities projected to be swallowed up by God’s once clean seas
While deforestation kills, stopping the music of trees
Where the Great Pacific Garbage Patch drifts and weaves
Creating death and carnage where ever it floats and then leaves

Oh, to see the brilliant emerald colors of the clean water flow
Respecting sea life thriving where ever rivers and streams go
Where winter snows are cherished instead of presenting a threat
And fresh rainwater begs for rubber boots and children getting wet
A place where hearts are at rest and the sun shines bright for all
As for me, I await the sound of horns and the great Archangel’s call!

    1. Thank you dear Sarah for your kind words. I must say that I am sad that these words are truth for our planet and I am sad for those living close to the fires. Thanks so much for reading it means a lot. Love 💕 Joni 🤗

    1. Thank you so much. It is nice to meet you. I took that photo while on a mission trip to Haiti. Deforestation and flooding are major issues there. Love 💕 Joni

    1. Thank you so much Bulbul. Glad you liked the pic too. Took that in Haiti on mission trip. Flooded homes, brackish water with no fish and starving babies. I hope you have a blessed day my friend. Love ❤️ Joni
