A Lone Surfer

Still cool white sand stuck between my long salty toes,
A tiny swell moved close wetting my dragging jeans,
My nose took in through its filtering, yearning hairs,
The formidable smell of fish and salt and long lost cares.
Leaving my summer clothes on the beach I ran forward,
Feeling the sense of freedom the cool water brought,
Still strong my muscles took me out past the waves,
A lone surfer in the expanse drew me back to those days.
