Deceitfulness

Pierced with sharp objects the skin grows tight,
Disillusionment fraught with dishonesty stings,
As those you love, with one swipe cut at your wings!

Your adversary hides like the spider in a new web,
Jealousy, cruelty and embitterment take a slice,
Your heart is now fully aware of their shallow device.

Your tissue toughens to keep those folks far-flung,
For disingenuousness spreads like the fifth of a swine,
Their kind doesn’t fall too far from the prickly vine.

Ephesians 5:6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient.

  1. A lie is one thing, but to intentionally deceive, I really struggle with that – while it can technically be true, it’s taken out of context or portrayed in a deceitful way, effectively deceiving the listener. Happens all the time in politics, in legal proceedings, in the media – one of the more despicable things about humanity. Makes me want to hibernate.

Thanks for posting, so pertinent in today’s world

    1. Thank you for reading and for your comment. It is true that a lie can be a hurtful, harmful thing. It also eats away trust. Sometimes it is best to be mindful of those that have lied before so you don’t get hurt again. Love Joni. Maybe take a break from politics. ❤️

  2. “Pierced with sharp objects the skin grows tight…” You capture a world of hurt w/ those few words, Joni. Abuse changes us, whether we want it to or not. Our innocence can never be recaptured. <3

    1. How could it really as we never had it to start with as early back as I can remember. I am so glad you understand what it does to those who do have to live like this even though we had productive lives and are loved. PTSD is something I struggle with as I lived in fear that I would be killed any-day. My dad loved to shoot the gun inside the house and my mom was the biggest sexual abuser in our house which statistically is low but it happens. Then there were the uncles. I love Anna. ❤️🤗💕🥰 PS I feel like you are like a sister I can not have because of what happened to them.

  3. I love you, too, Joni. Like you, I feel that trauma introduced me to a special sisterhood. Those who endured and somehow managed to survive are a rare breed. We understand suffering. And we extend compassion to those who have suffered. <3 <3 <3
